The Gate I Can't Cross

Lily is the youngest child of the Anore noble household. From a young age Lily knew she was born into the wrong body, a female body. Always looking enviously at her older brother, Alex, and the love the family gave him for fitting in. Lily tried her best to obey her mother and her wishes, be it dresses, smiles, or behavior. It was never enough and the punishments were severe. The only escape came from the black gate that leads to nowhere behind the manor. The perfect place to hide tears, and vent frustrations. It all changed when on Lily's 18th birthday an all too tempting voice came from the Gate. "Let me help you." Shocked, Lily fell back and the air caught in her throat. "How?" A whisper came out, eyes full of desperate need. "Open this gate, and I'll show you." He purred back. ----------------------------------------------------------------- *This is a BL romance: This world contains life-changing magic.* Other Novel: My Little Fly

Quartz Sin

POV: ???

The call was getting stronger and stronger, as well as that nasty creature attached to them. I was close enough to sense it, a vampire. An old, powerful one at that. I had finally let my horse rest. I sat at a cafe. It had an unpleasant rose scent.

I ordered a small coffee, mixing in a vial of blood. I drank it with need. The closer I got to my master, the thirstier I became. The more my instincts bubbled up against my will.

I was rudely interrupted from my meal. Some female struggling to speak properly. She blushed at me, I could smell her arousal. It was repulsive.

I took a glance at her. An order given, I returned to my coffee. She left without a word. Once I finished my drink, I made way back to Jasper.

He attempted to bite at my hair. I smacked his nose away, a snort showed his complaint. I dug out an apple from my bag. A whinny, as thanks and the apple was gone.

I saddled back up, a quick flip of the reins. Jasper trotted at his usual in a hurry pace. This was why he was my favorite horse. He didn't need encouragement to speed up. He galloped on the road out of town.

We didn't have long to travel, I could feel it. I flipped the reins again, impatient. Jasper neighed, gave a quick kick, and clocked into full speed. He breathed excitedly, nothing beat a run for him.

After another half hour, I reached a gated manor. A hiss slipped out. I could smell the vampire everywhere. He clearly patrolled the area. A guard approached a nervous look on his face.

"Do you require something, sir knight?" He had started to sweat.

This guard had little control over his emotions. He knew what beast lived here, and no doubt compelled.

"I'm here to see the lord of this manor. It is urgent. I am Captain Quartz Sin of the high knights."

The guard ran off, rudely, leaving me here at the gate. It wasn't long before he brought, the head butler.

"I am Davidson, sir knight. Please follow me to the waiting room." He bows with respect.

I hop off Jasper, leaving him to the guard to stable. The butler seems well trained, calm. I enter the foyer. The other servants eye me nervously. I am led to a small waiting room with a set of couches and a tea table.

Davidson has a maid bring refreshments. A sweet smelling tea along with macaroons. I don't bother, not a fan of sweets. I'm left there to stew. I can't tell the direction of the honeyed smell anymore. My master is in this house.

I tap my fingers on the couch, my patience long gone. A click from the door, and my senses go wild.

...…

I spend the morning tempting to rouse Vlad to cooperate with me. He continues to change the topic, eventually he got fed up with me.

"Do you want to talk about your past with your family? No, you don't. Don't ask me to talk about my weakest moments." He snaps at me, clearly frustrated.

I let out a sigh, as he moves away for air. I eat breakfast alone. Alex is out visiting Veronica. Father is working in his office. Mother is in the library, her usually place to spend her day.

I fiddle my fingers together. The server takes away my plate, I don't eat much. I attempt to summon Davidson, hoping to find some work.

"He's at the gate my lord." Lacy answers.

I raise a brow. "What for?"

"A visitor I presume." She shrugs. "Shall I ask about it?"

"Yes, I can't recall the last time someone visited the manor." She snaps her fingers at a nearby servant. He dashes off to Davidson.

"Anything I could do, Lacy?" I sink into my chair. "I have nothing to do today."

She stares at me, thinking.

"You could speak to the previous head. He could train you to take over his work."

I smile nervously, fingers interlocked once more.

"I'll try that, thank you." I deflate.

The last time I had a conversation with my father, he treated me as a outsider. Under Vlad's compulsion it would be different. Right?

I get up to head to father's office, but Davidson stops me.

"A knight captain is here my lord. He's says it's urgent." A worried look on his face.

My stomach drops. My greatest fears filling my head. I can't panic. I breather in and out. Standing tall. I am strong, do not panic.

"What does he want?" I imitate my brother's authoritative voice.

"He wishes to speak with you, the lord of the manor."

I try to force my body to relax, but my worries remain.

"I'll meet him. Where is Vlad?"

"I'm not sure. The servants can't find him" he sees my fear stricken face. "This is good, my lord, if he is not on the manor. It is safer for him at the moment."

I again force myself to relax. Davidson leads me to the drawing room. I wave him off, in case Vlad returns. I open the door.

The first thing is see is the ghostly bright pink eyes. Shockingly, he has no pupil, just an iris. His white hair is just above the shoulders, a bit messy. He's tall, must be my height. Defined muscles right below his knight's coat. The coat in the typical white that all knights use. A subtle addition of barely visible snakes near the collar. His sword dangling from his right side, a leftie. His face is akin to an angel's, beautiful, godly perfection.

I'm hit by a wave of emotion, a nostalgic feeling. Flashes of images I can't explain. His face, so much blood, a rage beyond reason. I drop, hand clutching my chest. It burns.

He rushes over, placing a hand on my back, rubbing it soothingly. He speaks low, and cold, I shiver automatically. This feeling is new, and terrifying.

"Just breathe. It'll pass." He doesn't move until my heartbeat slows.

I intend to move away, to question him, but I can't. I'm sucked into his eyes, my body sending shivers down my spine. It's not fear, I know fear. I gasp out.

"Who are you? What did you do to me?" My expression not hostile. I can't get angry at him. Why?

This emotion is starting to scare me. I want Vlad, my arrogant cat, to bring me comfort. To chase away this knight. Only a big part of me can't let this man leave. The other part still worried for Vlad's safety.

The knight let's out a sigh. A once cold expression, starting to change more frustrated, annoyed?

"I promise I won't hurt your cat. As long as he doesn't touch you." His voice very cold, emotionless sounding.

I stare in shock did he just hear my thoughts?!
