The Gate I Can't Cross

Lily is the youngest child of the Anore noble household. From a young age Lily knew she was born into the wrong body, a female body. Always looking enviously at her older brother, Alex, and the love the family gave him for fitting in. Lily tried her best to obey her mother and her wishes, be it dresses, smiles, or behavior. It was never enough and the punishments were severe. The only escape came from the black gate that leads to nowhere behind the manor. The perfect place to hide tears, and vent frustrations. It all changed when on Lily's 18th birthday an all too tempting voice came from the Gate. "Let me help you." Shocked, Lily fell back and the air caught in her throat. "How?" A whisper came out, eyes full of desperate need. "Open this gate, and I'll show you." He purred back. ----------------------------------------------------------------- *This is a BL romance: This world contains life-changing magic.* Other Novel: My Little Fly

Beast

I don't hesitate. Ordering Quartz to guard Cain, I lead Vlad outside to face the pack. A dozen or so wolves greet us with low growls. Variety of light grey and brown coats, with angry green to gold eyes. At the front of the snarling mob is a wolf with Cain's white coat and blue eyes. He is much bigger, matching my size. The other wolves meet at my shoulders.

My appearance stuns the pack for a moment. Their leader eyes me dumbstruck, before puffing up in pride.

'I am Lumin. The alpha of the northern mountains.'His smugness is quite visible. 'Why have you entered our territory?' The wolves give out threatening snarls in turn.

Vlad hisses in retaliation at the threats, daring them to strike. I respond with a confident stance of my own.

'I am Blue. My men and I traveled here to settle the castle. Vlad once lived here.' The wolves' ears twitch in response to my sweet sounding voice.

Lumin blinks at me, taking in my form. His attitude takes a calming turn, his pack follows his mood. He approaches respectfully, his words do not match his movements.

'This castle and its surrounding land belong to us. I've never heard of this Vlad, and I don't think any bloodsuckers will be welcomed here.' He starts circling me, eyeing me up. 'But you can stay. You look useful, and I imagine your human form to be satisfying.'

I tense, a defensive snarl comes out. Vlad picks up on the look Lumin is giving me. He dashes forward before I can respond to the wolf. Tossing him aside to hit another. The pack acts with fury, launching at my mate.

Lumin seemed unfazed by the throw, shaking it off. A freezing chill fills the air. Smirking, the alpha walks towards Vlad. Preoccupied with the other wolves, he doesn't see Lumin coming.

Sensing the threat I charge in at Lumin. Before I can land a bite, he snaps back. A sudden fury of claws and barking are shared between us. A slash to his face, causes the world to shiver in his fury.

'You bitch!' His jaws extend to the max, revealing his sharpened fangs. Blood streams down from his fresh face wound. 'I'll have you beneath me!'

I prepare for his next attack, only to be stunned by a blast of freezing wind. I back up, blinded, trying to shake off the ice. The feeling of teeth dig into my shoulder. Yelping in pain, I'm knocked down. My eyes open to close by jaws, inching for my front legs.

I retaliate, not going to make the same mistake twice. Calling out for my magic, whimpers fill the air. Wolves crumble in on themselves, blood boiling. Lumin struggles against it, steam comes off his body. His cold and my bloody heat mix in his body. His eyes filled with hate.

I stand tall, baring my fangs in expected victory, waiting for him to fall. My angry kitten takes away my moment. He shoves Lumin to the ground, in a bowing position. Vlad's own fangs bared, hissing, his clawed hands bloodied. The stubborn alpha struggles, the steam melting the snow below him.

'Release me golden wolf!' His growling can't be understood by my mate. 'This is not enough to hold me! I'll have my way with you and your precious blood sucker!' He didn't live long enough to regret those words.

Vlad jumped back in reflexive instinct. The ground beneath me cracked, snow flying off in the air. The world vibrated, snow fell off the trees. My eyes glowed an electric blue. My fur bristled from the intense atmosphere. I moved with a speed I've never used. Partially shifted, I became a two legged beast. My hands lifting up Lumin by the throat. A roar loud enough to scare the few birds away, and alert the whole mountain, came out in a raging display. I grabbed this dog with both hands, at the shoulder and the waist. Blood and guts spewed everywhere, his body ripped in two.

I breathed deeply, licking away the blood that reached my muzzle. The rapid heart beats of the wolves beneath me caught my attention. I looked down, eyeing my prey. They shivered to their cores. In a desperate attempt to survive, one flattened himself at my feet, groveling. I stepped on his head, it exploded into fleshy bits. The others scattered, tails between their legs.

One by one I hunted them down. A maddened grin, exposed my lengthened canines. Slashing, thrashing, eviscerating, one by one. From one end of the mountain to the other. Not one wolf was left in one piece. My golden fur had been doused red. It felt so satisfying.

My wolf side submitted itself to me. Fear and confusion controlled it. The enemy gone, I was regaining my sanity. I looked down at my bloody paws, my breathe hitched. Shock and utter terror caused me to fall back on myself. I lost myself to something, or someone.

Vlad approached cautiously, I shifted back into human form. I stared out into the forest, a confused set of laughter rang out, unable to comprehend this scenario. I spoke our shakily to my source of comfort.

"Vlad?" I forced myself to look at him. "I'm still me right?"

In a blink, he was surrounding me with his arms. That all too familiar chocolaty smell filling me up.

"Of course. You will always be my little mage."

He pet my head. "We will figure it out. I promise."

We stayed there for some time, the sun was starting to set. Eventually Vlad pulled me up, leaning me against him, leading me home. I felt so tired.

Quartz didn't speak, he guided us to the bathhouse. It was freshly cleaned, comforting warm water spread into a mist above it. The water turned a sickening red as I bathed. I didn't stay long, and changed into nightwear. A dark blue set. Vlad took my hand guiding me to our room.

It was not what I was expecting. New furniture filled the room with moon themed decor. The bed was covered by a see through cloth, coming down from the beams. Blue flower petals sprinkled the white covers. I blinked the confusion away. Magic? Vlad's dimensional space? I'll ask another time, not bothering to look at my cat, I pass out.

I should've never fallen asleep.
