Chapter 42

It takes four days for Ain to send a message to Alex. He has already moved on to a fancier part of Magic City, unlike the usual advanced looking city, with flying ships all around. This looked like a rich neighborhood with gardens and mansions all around. Alex also just got his new mansion yesterday, but he hasn't yet officially moved. Even if he has already had his stuff moved, also some of the things he had on himself he would never trust to other people.

Also, he told everyone that he wasn't ready to move yet as he had some things to take care of. He went to the mansion during the night and put countless surveillance around the perimeter. Alex knows that he won't be able to catch the Headmistress if she wanted to do something like this. But he now lives with Hero neighbors… they will want to know some more about the new guy.

Alex is so new to the academy, he doesn't go outside much and even always has his level of power hidden. So the others shouldn't know of his power, though he did have one person who would spill the beans… actually two now that he thinks about it.

Ain, and Bella (the Vice Headmistress), the latter is especially double so. Because even though she gets paid a lot, Heroes get paid more, four million gold a month is about as much as an average Merchant Guild would make.

The Academy currently is supporting ten Heroes, though most of them are outside of the Academy… they still have their organizations that will keep an eye on Alex.

Now he just needs to determine which one of them plans to spy on him. Because Alex will be going for the kill immediately, even Heroes are dangerous. They are also not as smart and wise as the Headmistress. They don't think far enough on how to break past Legend Rank when in actuality they hope to reach the Legend Rank. They will see Alex as just another obstacle in their path.

...

While Alex was thinking of that, in his new neighboring house a blue-haired man with blue eyes and a handsome face. He also has a gentle smile on his face when he looks at the people in front of him wearing blue robes.

The kind-looking smiling young man is Aquator. Also known as the Hero of Water.

The people in blue robes were known as the Cult of Water, even though the organization doesn't like to be called that. One of the other heroes, Mikheil, The Poison Hero who is currently on a journey had left this name to his rival's organization. And due to Mikheil's schemes, it worked and the name stuck.

"Listen to me Pure Waters." Aquator calls out to the people. The gentle smile on his face is always apparent. "Remember, we are only putting in surveillance to keep someone inexperienced like Alex safe. There is nothing more to it than that. He is also only a child and from the same kingdom as me, so we will have to be extra nice to him."

"As expected of the mighty Water Hero, your kindness is always like a bright star."

"As expected of lord Aquator. Looking out even when the kid should be his rival."

"Don't judge Lord Aquator by a normal man's perspective. He is kind no matter what."

Aquator only smiles as he sees the people in front of him compliment him like this. Unlike the other Heroes who go outside and adventure, he likes to stay within the safety of Magic City.

He has made connections here, has created an organization of people loyal to him, and even has a good relationship with the Headmistress. She taught him a couple of spells and has hinted that she will side with him if he decides to clash with the other Heroes.

'Going on journeys? All stupid.' Ponders Aquator. 'Magic City is the best place to grow, leaving the place is just putting yourself at unnecessary risk. I will kill them all when the time comes… I will kill all the heroes.

Especially that stupid Mikheil, the stupid Poison Warrior dares to go against me? I will show him how mighty a mage can be in comparison to a weak muscle brained warrior.'

Of course, as he contemplates all of this, he never says it out loud and only has a gentle smile on his face. He has some warriors in his organization, he doesn't want to offend them by saying that they are stupid.

"Please everyone, you need to calm down." Says Aquator, immediately calming down everyone. His voice is soft but the Aura that comes out of him is dominating. "Now let's talk again abo-"

FWISH!!!

Before he could finish speaking, blood spikes came out of the ground like a blooming rose. Aquator was at the center of it so he got skewered before he could even react. He might be Rank 3, but his body still is incomparable to that of a Warrior. Some of the people who are at the top of the Water Cult jump back and can dodge, but immediately a red mist obscures their vision and some red snakes that they can't see grab onto their ankles.

BOOOOM!!!

The whole room is covered in an explosion and the whole mansion is covered in flames also. But 'coincidentally' Aquator's severed head lands on the metal spike gate in front of his lawn. His eyes were wide open in frozen shock…

While on the other side of town, in the Headmistress' mansion. Bella and the silver-haired Julie (Headmistress) look at the TV-like thing in front of them. Julie has a smile on her face as she takes a sip of her wine glass, her blue eyes shine in the light. Bella on the other hand is terrified.

She knows that Julie knew of the attack one day before when Alex put the explosive magic in there.

"Alex always impresses me. If he keeps this up he might make my heart start fluttering." Jokes Julie knowing that Alex will never be able to achieve something like that. So her body slowly changes into that of Ain as she plans to go and meet Alex soon.

'But how did he know of the place where Aquator would meet with his little group?' Wonders Julie, she has seen every single action that Alex has taken in the Magic Academy, even as he had that strange power up in his bathroom.

"M -Miss Julie!" Calls out Bella anxiously. "Why would you let something like this happen? Didn't we invest so much in the Water Hero?!!"

Julie doesn't mind as Bella asks that at all. Instead, she just looks at her and smiles. "Bella, you need to learn to let go of things sometimes. Even if you put effort into them, don't let it cloud your mind. Should I be mad at Alex for this?"

"N -No mam…"

"Exactly, Alex is more valuable than Aquator. Alex's value is quite high now." Says Julie, not caring about Aquator at all. She is someone who has lived for hundreds of years now, a couple of decades of work isn't anything too big. Plus she can raise another Aquator whenever she wants. The young man was nothing special, he might have reached the Legend Rank, even though unlikely.

But Alex represents a whole different thing, he is even more valuable than the Magic Academy that she has spent centuries building and improving up till this day. Once again, none of that matters as the city can be rebuilt. She just needs to get a hint, be shown a road to the light on how to pass through this Legendary Rank. Julie has been stuck in this place for more than two centuries by now.

Her talent has always been extreme, by the early forties she had already reached the peak of the Legendary Rank.

..

..

Bella can see the dangerous look in Julie's eyes so she in the end doesn't say anything. She knows how the Headmistress can be at some days, melancholic as hell as she most likely plans the deaths of hundreds of people over a decade before they even happen.

Bella, as the Vice Headmistress, has seen just how far Julie can go. She is terrified of the century-old woman. Even as she had the appearance of the plain-looking Ain. Bella still wishes that the kid comes out sane after all that the Headmistress has planned for him. In her mind, even if he is a reincarnated person, there is no one she would wish to be the Headmistress' enemy…

'But then again, she doesn't have enemies… dead people can't be called that.' Ponders Bella. But suddenly the figure of a person appears in her head. 'Right… there is that person… someone who is as dangerous as not even more than The Headmistress. It is…'

While Bella is thinking that, Julie is analyzing all of Alex's behavior. How does he know some subtle things, and even where Aquator would meet his cult members. Though he knew where he would meet, she hadn't seen Alex have a spy network or spy on Aquators house.

'Oh wait! I have been thinking about all of this wrong!' Julie now comes to a sudden realization. 'He is reincarnated… just not from the past…'
