Meeting

Gildarts faced the berserk Inari, attempting to calm him down. Inari attacked like a madman, no strategy or skill in his attacks. With every attack, as if by instinct, he got closer and closer to hitting Gildarts. Gildarts didn't want to hurt Inari, so he used his magic to attempt to blast him unconscious, but Inari was like a wild beast, shrugging off all attacks and attacking regardless of his injuries.

Master Makarov, waiting at the end point, felt the magic of Inari start going berserk. He felt something was wrong, so he started making his way towards their location. Meanwhile, the other participants had already finished, not one of them passing their own test. Feeling the huge, beast like magic from Inari, they all felt worried for their safety.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inari opened his eyes, and immediately sprung up. Surrounding him was an inferno, with no end. Within the flames, blue lightning streaked by. Shocked, he thought that he was going to burn, when he noticed that it felt ... pleasant. taking a few steps, he started wandering around, looking for any landmark of any significance. wandering for a while, he noticed a purple blaze in the distance. Walking closer, they grew clearer, until he saw that they were eye shaped fires. Suddenly, around the purple, a dark red flame appeared, forming the shape of a 9 tailed fox. Inari stumbled backwards in fear as 2 golden pupils appeared in the flaming eyes.

The eyes seemed to search around the space, before latching onto him. As the 'fox' looked at him, it rose upon it's legs. The size of the fox was immense, dwarfing Inari. As he looked upon this majestic sight, he broke out of his stupor,

"Uhm ... can you hear me? Where are my friends? Where am I?" Inari

Inari was frantic, because the last thing he remembers was seeing Erza laying on the ground, injured. The fox looked at him, growling and yipping alternately. Seeming to notice his lack of comprehension, the fox uttered a sound unnervingly close to a sigh of resignation. Crouching down, it used one of it's claws to trace a circle in the fire. A circle formed of a ring of purple lightning bolts formed, when the center cleared and Inari could see the situation outside.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a short fight, Gildarts had managed to catch Inari, when the master had arrived. Together, they pinned him down, and used a few magic circles to bind him down. At this point, the rest of the participants had arrived, along with Laxus. Erza had also woken up. Seeing Inari in the state he was, and knowing that he went berserk for her, caused something in Erza to hurt. She couldn't tell what, but she left that for later. Right now, they needed to help Inari.

Master Makarov studied Inari, when he noticed the new sword radiating power in his hands.

"So, you're saying that this sword formed from his power when he went berserk?" Makarov

"Yes. It seems like he has stabilized his powers, sort of. However, it seems to have overwhelmed him, now he needs to acclimatize to it. The power spike wasn't a simple sum, it was almost exponential." Gildarts

Makarov fell into deep contemplation, while Inari struggled in the magic circles. The rest of the spectators also started thinking of ways to help him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Within the flames, Inari watched all of this through the 'window' the fox had created. Sensing no malice from the fox, he quickly looked up to it's face.

"C...can you help me? I need to stop myself, but I don't know how!" Inari

The fox looked at him. Again the sigh like sound. Suddenly a mass of purple lightning appeared to Inari's left, while a sphere of dark red fire appeared to his right. Finished, the fox disappeared, leaving Inari to figure out his own solution.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suddenly, Inari's shuddering inside the circle calmed down. Makarov and co. looked at him, hoping that he was calming down. Alas, he started shaking even more violently after a moment. Realising what was happening, Makarov resolved himself and told everyone that this would take a while.

"Return to the guild. We can't have no S-Class mages for an extended amount of time. Gildarts, for a while you need to look after the guild. We'll return when Inari is done controlling his power." Makarov

"Okay, master. However, Erza passed my test. So, does she make it?" Gildarts

Everyone was shocked, Erza most of all. She thought she would fail. Makarov nodded, fully expecting the situation.

"Congratulations to Erza for passing the S-Class mage trials for Fairy Tail. Now leave! I might not return for a while, we'll have another party when we return." Makarov

Everyone cheered as they left, congratulating Erza while lamenting the fact that they couldn't pass.

Am I taking it too slow?

I wanted this chap to be about whatever else is happening on Tenrou while Inari starts controlling his powers.

This is the second of yesterdays chapters, meaning there probably will be 2 more later today.

(I'm GMT+2, so it is yesterday for me.)
