True Friend

After looking through some apartment listings, Wen Ling finally settled on a decent suite near the company.

"Alright, I'll let your manager know!" Qian Qian said but just as she was about to walk away, Wen Ling grabbed her wrist.

"Qian Qian, I know this all sounds weird but I want you to keep this a secret. You can tell the manager too but I don't want anyone else to know about this." Wen Ling explained with a hint of pleading in her voice.

"A Ling, are you sure you're okay? You've been acting weird ever since you came back from the hospital. It's like you're a completely different person," Qian Qian commented, a concerned expression on her face.

"Well… I…" Wen Ling began but stopped herself. Did she really want to get her friend involved in this mess?

"A Ling, if there's something troubling you, you know you can always tell me about it. If it's a secret you want me to keep then I will keep it. If you want my help with something then I will gladly help you. You don't have to hold back." Qian Qian assured, grabbing Wen Ling's hand.

Wen Ling could almost feel the tears coming up. Qian Qian was really the greatest friend she could ever have, it was like she doesn't even deserve her. If there's one person on this planet that won't ever turn their back on Wen Ling then it has be Qian Qian. Wen Ling first met Qian Qian during her last two years in acting school. Ever since then, they have become inseparable. If it wasn't for Wen Ling quitting her acting career in her past life, they would not have had a huge fight. Qian Qian wasn't even at Wen Ling's wedding because of it.

Gathering herself, Wen Ling made another mental promise. She promised that whatever happens in this life, she will make sure Qian Qian won't ever suffer.

"Actually… I've been having some problems with my family," Wen Ling began. She wasn't going to tell Qian Qian about having a past life or being given a second chance or anything like that. Anyone would think she had gone bonkers if Wen Ling ever said that out loud. However, Wen Ling made up her mind to not hide anything from Qian Qian anymore so she's going to try to make it sound as natural as possible.

"Problems? I thought you were always on good terms with them…" Qian Qian said, giving Wen Ling a confused look.

"Yeah, I used to until I found out that my sister was planning to sabotage me from behind my back. My mother's supposedly in it as well. I just don't feel safe to continue living at home so that's why I wanted to move out. I don't want anyone to know about this because if the reporters catch onto any of this, there will be big news and I'm trying to avoid that," Wen Ling explained.

"Really? Then… do you reckon that maybe your sister has something to do with the…" Qian Qian started but Wen Ling finished it for her.

"The accident? I'm not entirely sure but I will need evidence if I was going to accuse anyone," Wen Ling said.

"I see…" Qian Qian replied quietly.

"Say, do you want to help me? I know you might not want to since it's my problem to begin with…" Wen Ling begins to ask.

"Help you? As in finding the possible culprit behind your accident? Of course I will! You're my bestie, if anything happens to you, I will definitely track them down!" Qian Qian exclaims, showing me her fist.

"Thanks, I'm so grateful I have someone like you on my side," Wen Ling replied, pulling Qian Qian into a hug.
