Chapter 18-love affair
To be honest, Margaret had no desire to get involved. Mario was troublesome, and the argument over a stained dress was equally so. She had seen the protagonist, verified the initial encounter between Charlotte and Douglas as described in the story, so there was no need to linger here.
"Ah, sorry," Margaret held her head, giving a weak and awkward smile, "I think I might have had too much to drink. I want to get some fresh air outside. Sir, could you help me downstairs?"
She extended a hand to Andy.
Andy lowered his eyelashes and bent down to grasp Margaret's fingertips. There wasn't much emotion on his face, behaving like a mild-mannered stranger.
"The pleasure is mine."
They descended the stairs and left. Before leaving, Margaret turned back and smiled apologetically.
Mario, completely ignored throughout the ordeal, angrily let go of Charlotte's hand, about to rush out to confront Margaret. But Douglas intervened, his voice cold.
