Chapter 20- The Roaming Lupines

"Now that we are official adventurers, lets complete our first quest."

Liara looked excited as she all but dragged Lucious to the quest board.

What's got her so excited?

The two approached the board and looked for a suitable quest.

They a few minutes looking at G rank quests but couldn't find anything decent.

"Hm... these three are all next to each other. May as well take them." Lucious said while he grabbed them then took them to Adrianna.

"Grab a ten lotus flowers, clear out some goblins and transport some supplies. OK, hand me your cards so I can process them."

Adrianna took their cards and held them to a crystal before handing them back

"Head to the blacksmith just West of here for the transport quest and look for a big ugly sign." She said as she dismissed them.

Is that all? You're not going to offer any advice or anything? While internally complaining to himself, his system cheered him up.

[Quest: collect ten lotus flowers from the red lake.]

[Rewards: +5 stat points, +1 skill point]

[Quest: Kill roaming band of goblins that's been killing new adventurers]

[Reward: +5 stat points, +1 skill point]

[Quest: Transport blacksmith Johan's forge equipment to his new forge]

[Rewards: Enchanted sword, Enchanted dagger]

Ooh, this is much better. The system will generate quests from the guild? This should speed my growth up a lot.

Lucious grinned at the unexpected quests he received over the system and dragged Liara towards the blacksmith.

"She said look for the ugly sign, do you see one anywhere?" Lucious asked as he followed the street west.

"... could it be that one?" Liara pointed to a blacksmith store with a giant purple and blue sign on the front.

"...Probably." Lucious was at a loss for words but quickly put on a neutral expression.

After heading inside, he could see a load of boxes stacked on top of each other.

Just as he was wondering if anyone was here, a large stocky man with a red feathered bird head and wings appeared from the backroom.

"Are you the ones they sent?" he asked as he sized them up.

"Yes. My name is-"

"Don't care. Hurry and help me move these boxes, I'm already behind on my orders."

Lucious looked at him stunned. He hadn't expected his client to be so brusque. Especially since he could just cancel his quest.

"R-right. Well, I have some storage rings here to speed things up a little." Lucious said while trying to remain polite.

The blacksmith, Johan, didn't say anything and watched as Lucious started putting the boxes in his storage.

Though it took a while to store them all, it would be faster than going back and forth with a carriage.

"Good. Lets go." Johan led them to a carriage that head towards the western gate.

The ride was quiet and uncomfortable but after five minutes it was finally over as they reached a building near the gate.

"Dump them anywhere in here." Johan said while waiting on Lucious.

He took them out as quickly as he could.

"Hand me your cards so I can confirm you've completed your quest." Lucious handed it over and he disappeared in a backroom.

He quickly reappeared while holding two weapons. One was a longsword while the other was a dagger.

"My previous client cancelled his order after I made these.

I tried to sell them, but nobody wanted them so take them out of my sight. " He grumbled, before aggressively opening a crate with his bare hand.

"Thank you." Lucious and Liara quickly left the grumpy birdman in his new store and checked out the new weapons.

[Ding]

[Quest completed]

Lucious inspected the sword and dagger and saw they both had similar designs.

Their sheaths were plain black with red stitching, but the blades had runes carved into them.

[Enchanted sword: Durability 100/100. Effect: 10% additional damage to martial arts techniques]

[Enchanted dagger: Durability 100/100. Effect: 10% increase to all stats.]

"You can take the dagger, use it to defend yourself until you learn magic." After giving Liara the dagger, he put the sword on his waist.

The two then used the western gate and left the city.

Their journey only took an hour of walking before they came across the red lake located on the outskirts of a forest.

Despite its name, the water inside was normal, however, red lotus flowers could be seen just about everywhere.

"OK, you quickly grab ten of them while I go find and kill the goblins."

"But what if the goblins find me? I can't fight them all on my own." Liara's face had visible concern.

"Relax, I can feel their presence from here. They are in earshot, so if anything happens, just shout."

Lucious pat her head reassuringly then head in the direction of the goblins.

Lightning step testing his new spell for the first time, Lucious was covered in lightning.

[-40 mana]

Before he could blink, he appeared ten metres away.

Whoa... this will take some getting used to. Lucious then used lightning step four more times, covering fifty metres.

As he did, he came upon a group of armed goblins. Some even had tacky armour.

Guess they're the ones. Lucious didn't waste any time and simply beheaded them.

[8 goblins killed]

[Reward: +1 Exp]

Just one Exp? So they are so weak that the system doesn't see much value in killing them? He stored their bodies in his storage ring and ran back to Liara.

"All done?" he asked as she was just sitting there waiting.

"That was fast, I only just finished up here."

Just as the pair started making their way back to the city, Lucious heard the sounds of swords clash.

"Sounds like someone's fighting, let's go watch." Lucious was sporting a massive grin as he made his way to the sound of battle.

Liara simply shrugged and filled him towards a clearing.

In the distance, a group of beastmen were fighting humans.

The beastmen all had wolf ears and a wolf tail of different colours to one another.

It consisted of two warriors a male and female that were holding the line. One female archer covering them and one male mage healing them.

"Four lupines and seven humans. Looks like the humans are winning." Lucious said out loud.

"Frozen arrow." Liara cast her new spell and killed one of the unsuspecting humans.

The sudden attack took everyone by surprise, including Lucious. He had no idea that she had already learned her new spell.

She already learnt it? Lucious didn't expect her to learn it that quickly. He had already forgotten that she learned her small heal in just a few hours.
