/"I'm so fast,/" Daddy denied, but even still, he hadn't made it to the door. /"And I don't see you counting./"

/"Oh!/" I stuck my fingers up, wondering which one to start counting on. /"One. Two. Nine. I gottsa use my toes, too. Five./"

Daddy took forever! He was going to be on the snail team, not the Sonic team! I counted to a bajillion and then a bajillion and one before he came back. He was smiling brightly.

/"So, what do you think? Fast enough to be a Sonic boy like you?/" His grinned. So hopeful, could I really be the one to take away my Daddy's happiness and his dreams?

No, I decided. Daddy said that lying was bad, but I think maybe lying was good if it made Daddy's feelings not ouchie.
