The First Clue

Along with the continuous notifications ringing in his mind, James felt an unknown energy begin to pour into his body.

The feeling was different from when he awakened the system. Previously, he could only feel the pain and nothing else.

However, this time was different, a warm and numb feeling spread throughout his body, causing some sort of augmentation and transformation. 

Immediately, James felt a surge of strength and knew that if he fought the wild boar again, he could easily slash the boar in half with his sword.

There was no need to dodge left and right, simply charge and slash its body into two.

With a light grip, James felt the strength in his arms.

He punched out, and there was a slight gust of wind following it.

Compared with before, his strength has substantially improved.

James felt content looking at the new information. He then examined the descriptions of his skills to understand his current strength better.

James thought that the descriptions were pretty simple. However, its power was definitely not to be underestimated.

Seeing that he could finally have some cool skills, James actually wanted to go outside the cave and test his skills right away, canceling his intention to rest because he felt full of power and really wanted to try his newly acquired power.

Even though it's still dark and probably around 1 or 2 a.m., but with the system's night vision mode, he could see clearly in the dark. 

As a result, if the opponent was non-nocturnal, James would gain an advantage when fighting at night.

"Lil Fluffy, activate the scan function from now on. Filter it to include only important things at my level, including any beasts or people." James ordered.

The scan system worked by scanning everything surrounding James, with the distance depending on his rank.

For example, at Peak Rank 1, the scan could cover a diameter of 50 meters centered on him.

He filtered it to ensure efficiency and avoid being disturbed by unnecessary information. 

First, he narrowed it down to important things at his level, so that when he ventured outside, he wouldn't miss any treasures that were useful at his current level.

Since, who knows that he might stumble upon treasures on his journey to explore the outside world.

Second, the reason he filtered it to people was because he wanted to find someone so that he could interact with them.

Third, he filtered it to beasts because of two reasons.

The most important thing was for safety reasons, in this unknown world filled with beasts, he could unintentionally bump into a powerful beast and be killed by it.

The second purpose was obviously to hunt, etc.

After James filtered the scan function, he heard a notification from the system.

James looked in the direction of the bed and recognized the item the system was referring to. It was the last item left behind with his sword and Minji's necklace. 

It's a purplish jade token about 15 cm long and rectangular in shape, elegantly carved with a sword and a dragon on each side of the token.

Because he couldn't identify the token and didn't know what it was for, he placed it randomly on the bed and didn't think too much of it.

When he knew that the system could identify an item during his first scan of the sword, he had thought about checking the other two items as well.

James then walked over to the bed and picked up the token to identify it.

James now has another purpose in mind: to find out who had put him and Minji in this situation and why, as he felt sorry for Minji, who was still too young to deserve to be abandoned like this. 

James then walked outside the house to find Little Snow and upgrade his rank.

"Squeak!"

James opened the door and saw Minji and Little Snow playing together.

"Little Snow, catch this again." Minji threw a stick to Little Snow and asked him to catch it like playing with a dog.

"Woof."

Little Snow caught the stick while moving left and right happily, as if he liked to play with Minji.

James shook his head and smiled wryly, looking at his sister playing with a wolf like it was a dog.

"Minji, Little Snow, come here." James said it in a loud voice.

Hearing his brother's voice, Minji then picked up Little Snow and ran towards him.

"Put Little Snow down, I will upgrade his rank so that it can become stronger and protect you while I am away." James said while patting Minji's head.

"Huh? Brother, Do you want to go outside again? It's still dark outside." Minji asked as she put Little Snow down.

"Don't worry, I can see in the dark with the help of the system." James said while picking up his little sister and walking a few steps away from Little Snow, just in case when Little Snow became stronger, he couldn't control his strength and hurt Minji.

"Little Snow, get ready! I will use my talent to make you stronger." James reminded Little Snow. 

"Awoo."

Little Snow howled while looking at his master as if saying, "I am ready, master."
