We got Company

Carl was confused for what Drake whispered to him previous day and that was the day when Carl realized by looking at Janice that he is in love with her and that made him uncomfortable.

""I'm in love with my best friend's girlfriend? Ah! how could I do this."" ,thought Carl by brushing his hair with both hands.

"and Drake NOTICED! Oh God! " ,said Drake out loud.

Janice heard him because she was sitting right in front of him.

She passed a questioning and worried look to him.

"Are you done with the pottering?" ,said Carl.

She nodded.

"Should we go?"

She wrote, "Are you okay?"

"Yea- Yeah..... nothing to worry about." ,said Carl while looking down.

AT THE STUMP LAB

Janice was playing with the flowers near a big tree while Carl and Drake were sitting on the log doing research.

"Hey, Drake?"

"What is it?" said Drake while looking at the papers.

"Why did you say that thing, tomorrow?"

"you think I don't notice? You are my best friend, how could I not? And moreover, I wanted to give you a hint that she is not mine, so."

"how could you say that? You clearly know that if she heard you she will be very upset."

"I always knew that she considered me as a family and only I loved her but I was too selfish."

"How do you know that? She cares you that's why she lost her voice." ,said Carl

"No. I-"

A weird noise was getting louder slowly.

"What's that sound?" ,said Drake.

"What sound?" ,said Carl

When they both saw Janice, she was looking at something in the forest with scared eyes.

Drake rushed to Janice, He looked at the direction and meanwhile, when Carl came to them he looked too, and his eyes opened wide with fear.

"We got company." ,said Drake.

Five zombies wearing lab coats covered in blood were coming this way fast from the direction of the institute.

Drake pushed Janice behind him while Carl grabbed a heavy stick from the ground.

"Now what?" ,said Carl.

"Let's see what happens." ,said Drake.

Zombies came closer. They gathered together in front of them and started talking gibberish and did nothing.

"What's this?" ,said Carl.

They looked like they were trying to say something to them and were completely harmless.

"I think .... I think they are doing experiments on their own staff. Look they are wearing lab coats." ,said Drake.

"But why aren't they attacking?"

"Because the experiment failed."

"Failed?"

Drake and Carl both lowered their guard slowly and when a zombie came walking abnormally towards Drake, Carl took Janice and got into a distance from Drake. The zombie held his hand and started talking gibberish again.

"I'm sorry my friend Cooper, we will surely help you." ,said Drake with teared eyes.

"Cooper?" ,said Carl.

"He is one of our coworkers."

"Oh.... you are right. God! you guys..."

"I think they were short on their own subjects so they experimented on them as a substitute. I can't believe it."

"Can you understand them?" ,said Carl nervously.

"*psuse* No...."

AT HOME

Carl and Janice are sitting on different coaches. Carl was looking down when Janice wrote something on her pad.

"Don't worry, Carl. In no time, the antidote will be ready and then we will help them and Drake."

"You are right. Thanks Janice for being there for me."

Janice got up from her coach to Carl's and hugged him. Carl was stunned and then he hugged her. When he put his hand on her, Janice's heart skipped a beat.
