Who are they?

Two boys stood before me facing the other boys. I couldn’t hear what transpired between them, but they were gone before I knew it. When the two boys turned around I realized they were twins. They both crouched down to my level, one of the twins started rubbing my arms up and down in a comforting manner. They helped me get up.

“Are you alright?”

Looking at his lips I nodded. That day I told them all what I had been going through, since they knew I was deaf they talked slowly making sure I understood better. They told me their own story of losing both their parents, ending up in an orphanage. Since that day we were inseparable. When I turned sixteen I couldn’t bring myself to part with them because according to law once you turned eighteen you will have to leave the orphanage that is after they have given you a certain amount to take care of yourself pending on when you found a job but the twins and I never wished to stay that long . Mr. Gerald was so kind to allow us to go… they have been the ones looking after me ever since, feeding me sending me and themselves to school.

I haven’t even closed my eyes or so I thought when I was awoken by the annoying morning alarm which read 6’o clock, I said my devotion and then took my bath. I wore a black pencil denim jeans a black singlet, black leather jacket with a pair of black boots then lastly packed my hair in a ponytail and then I let a few strands of hair to fall at each side of my face and headed downstairs “good morning”.

“Good morning Skyler, ready for breakfast?” Nate said.

“Hey where is Nick”

“He is in the room, he’ll be here in a minute”

“Ok but am not hungry” I said looking at the already prepared breakfast which contained of toasted bread generously buttered, with a cup of coffee filled with milk, I love coffee, now I know it has caffeine which is not good for my health.

“Sit”.

“Okay, okay” I had to comply because I saw that he was getting angry.

“Ready?” Nick said coming downstairs.

“Aren’t you going to have your breakfast”?

“I already had mine”.

“Okay Nate I can’t go on” I said getting up.

“We can go to school now” he replied. I don’t know how this two do it, going to school and bringing money in at the same time, it amazes me. They both hate talking about work, I actually careless of how they get money because I trust them.

Nate drove us to school, after we saw to our administration we were left with the principal, Mr. Williams was boldly written on a play card which was placed on his desk. He is a fat bald man of about forty with brown hair with a pair of brown eyes, thin pointed nose and a set of white teeth, dressed in a black suit and tie.

“You all are welcome to Westfield high school, am happy to have you here” he said, great “here is your locker combination, your syllabus and some extracurricular activities you could participate in”

“Thank you” I said. The twins only stared blankly.

“They don’t talk much do they?” I nodded.

“I heard about your condition, I will make sure your comfortable here” I nodded again.

“I will show you your classroom, after you” he said opening the door I nodded politely and went out.

Mr. Williams opened the door of the classroom and we were shown inside “Mr. Greggory you’ve got new transfer students, please come in” he said, we went in “I leave you to your duties Mr. Greggory” he said closing the door, Mr. Greggory is a man in his 20’s tall and handsome, green eyes with black hair that covered some part of his face, he wore an ash t-shirt, pencil trouser with a pair of sneakers.

“Please could you introduce yourself to the class?” he said smiling but the look Nick gave him made him rephrase his sentence.

“Or you could just have a seat”

We walked over to an empty seat which was next to a very cute boy, his hair fell over by the side of his face which was featured with a pair of grey eyes, small pointed nose with a set of white teeth which he flashed at me immediately I sat down.

We were told to turn to a particular page in our math’s text book and that was how time passed until the bell rang for change of subject.

“You sure you will be okay on your own?”

“Don’t worry about me Nate, I will be fine, I will see you guys in the cafeteria, I just want to drop off my books” I turned to look at Nick, and cocked my head to his brother direction, understanding me, he proceeded in dragging Nick away.

I took out the paper that held my locker number and combination code that was given to me by the principal.

A red haired girl came walking up to me and immediately reminded me of Barbie for she was dressed in pink furry coat a white inner, short pink skirt with pink boots and a white purse, she regarded me with a look of disgust on her face.

“What’s your name?” she asked me but I chose to ignore her turning around I focused on arranging my books at this point there was a crease on her face that meant I was annoying her which made me smile to myself.

Suddenly I was roughly pushed back, making me collide harshly to the locker behind me.

Before I could retaliate, a Blondie grabbed her from behind with so much force she landed on her butt. The girl stood before me with her hands folded glaring harshly at her. Truth be told I hate being pitied or people making me feel helpless, it pisses me off.

“What do you think you’re doing?” I asked her.

“I don’t need your help” I continued cutting her off before she could make a sentence. I immediately walked away from the scene, as I started seeing an audience gathering, I hate attention and now this two blondes saw it fit to give me one on my first day.

Making my way to the cafeteria, looking to the far end I spotted the boys at a table in a corner. I noticed people kept on asking for a seat on their table but they were declined.

“Where have you been Sky?”

“I got held up”

“By who?”

“No one, drop it Nate”

“Did someone bother you again?”

“Drop it”.

“Who did it” Nick finally looked up at me. I hated whenever he used that tone on me.

“Could you guys for once stop being so over protective over me? I am capable of taking care of myself ok so stop”. Well that ought to do it.

“I’m hungry” I stated as I sat in between them.

“Your food is right in front of you” Nick replied.

“I don’t feel like eating mine, you guys own look so good” me being me I proceeded in picking out of their food.

“I never gave you permission to eat that Sky” Nate said with a frown. I grinned back at him with lots of meatballs stuffed in my mouth.

I made it through the whole day in school, with a lot of weird looks passed my way and flirty looks passed to the twins.

Getting home I went straight to the couch and slumped on it.

“Well that was so ladylike” Nick said kicking my foot as he made his way towards the kitchen.

I gave him the bird.
