~•Aden•~
I gazed into those more than mystical orbs of hers as I gave her a challenging look. I stared down at the lady in my arms and couldn't help but feel something move within me as she continued to throw deathly glares at me.
"Are you going to answer me or not?" I muttered under my breath as I pulled her impossibly close to me. I doubted if air could manage to find a way for itself in between our bodies.
"Give me the notebook back." She refused to give up and spat back at me while trying to reach the book.
I couldn't stop myself from letting out a chuckle as she pushed her body against mine while trying to reach the notebook.
I could sense desperation in those eyes to get her hands on it which only made me wonder what was so special about the notebook. But my curiosity can have a rest at the moment. What I wanted more than anything then, was her confession! I wanted her to accept the fact that she was just like me, an angel. We could work on the soul mates part later on.
"Just accept it." Too lost in my own thoughts, I let the words slip through my lips which must have made a wrong impact.
"Accept what?" For a fleeting second, I saw confusion flash across her face before her expressions went back to her usual blank ones.
"I caught the ball, remember?" I began to explain it to her as I didn't want to stretch the matter more than necessary. "I know you aren't a human. You are just stuck on this Earth." I took a brief pause to check on how she was taking my confrontation. To my shock, she was taking it… too well. Even if she wasn't, her expressions were definitely not giving it away.
I gave her a questioning look when she didn't say anything in response. The silence which engulfed the hallway was killing me, more specifically, it was her silence over the matter which was killing me. Not being able to take the lady's quietness, I continued.
"I know you are an angel like me. What's there to hide when I am just like you?" I spoke up, too lost in my own thoughts.
I saw her looking at me with utter bafflement for a minute or so. She opened her mouth before closing it again and repeated the process a couple of times. To me, she looked like a fish who was pulled out of water and was left on the ground to survive.
"What did you just say?"
She finally found her voice and narrowed her eyes at me. Her question only left me confused. Didn't she hear me? Or was she too shocked that I had managed to find out about her. Well, I couldn't actually put my finger on it, but she looked cute.
'What was that?'
I thought to myself as my mind registered the fact that I had been praising her for long now. Instead of focusing on the matter at hand, I was focusing more on her features, on how she looked, and how her eyes sparkled as the light from the surroundings hit them.
'You have lost it, Aden!'
I scolded myself for my wayward thoughts.
"It doesn't matter whether or not I am like you, or from the same world." Her words pulled me out of my thoughts and I shifted my attention to her. "What matters is that you cannot confront me for something that was just a reaction to your actions!" She continued as she glared at me.
"W-what?" I could only frown as she continued to spat words at me.
"Not what, but rather a why!" She exclaimed, her words were laced with nothing but sheer annoyance.
"What are you talking about?" I asked her. It was my turn to be speechless and look like a gaping fish.
"Why don't you go and ask your bag about it instead of me?" She gave me an accusing look which was followed by a "humph".
"What bag? And ask what?" I threw another question at her. My thoughts were a mess at the moment. I wondered what she was accusing me for.
'Did she really left because of me? Was the reason behind her leaving the game related to me?'
Such questions were hitting my brain one after the other, which only rendered my ability to think useless.
"Your bag, of course." She stated as a matter of fact and gave me a skeptical look. "Why would I talk about someone else's bag?" She looked at me as if I had grown out two horns in the period of the last few seconds. And I doubted that I might have.
"What about my bag?" I asked her once again as I was still at a loss of words. I couldn't connect the dots at all, no matter how hard I tried to do so.
"You!" I saw her gritting her teeth as if I had stepped on the last nerve of patience she had left in her. "Go and figure it out yourself!" She whisper-yelled at me through her clenched jaw before pushing her body away.
She was about to make a turn and walk away from me, but stopped in her tracks as if remembering something. Extending her right hand towards me, she demanded.
"My notebook."
Not wanting to go against the lady's words this time, I gave her what she wanted. Just when I was about to give up, my eyes landed on her extended palm as I passed her the notebook.
"I am sorry." I apologized to her, but without even bothering to reply to me back or spat at me, she walked away snatching her notebook from me.
I kept staring at her retreating figure and only teared my gaze away when she was no longer in my line of sight. The frown on my forehead which had disappeared earlier, returned back right away as I began to walk towards my locker.
Every time I blinked, her blaring red palm flashed through my eyes which only riled up my emotions. I needed to have a look at my to confirm my doubts, and I was more than hoping that they were wrong.
