Roommates

"Hey, can you tell me what's this commotion all about?" Kael looked around and asked in a low tone.

"Oh, we're still waiting on confirmation of our identity. Once you have passed the screening process, you will be then able to enter the dormitory and gain access to your pre-assigned room." The man who got asked by Kael explained patiently. He has yellow hair and a pair of bright golden eyes. Although his face may not look handsome, he keeps emitting a unique vibe that is unconsciously attracting people to be aware of his presence.

"Thank you for the information," Kael replied with a tone of gratitude and a slightly bewildered expression. He expected that people in the city would act arrogantly. It turns out that many of them were humble enough to answer a stranger's question.

The man only smiled at him and turned his body back to its initial position.

While waiting for his turn, Kael surfed through his system and found there was a daily quest waiting for him to accomplish. Lucky for him, the quest consisted of daily workouts he usually performed. Hence, he wasn't worried that he wouldn't be able to finish it right in time because it was a piece of cake for him.

He also skimmed past other tabs, which were surprisingly proven to be crafting, concoction, encyclopedia, and notes.

Resisting the urge to explore more, Kael swiftly closed the system after realizing it was his turn to be verified.

"State your name." A man who looked no younger than Kael, spoke in a clear tone.

"Kael Lys."

Kael then watches the man type something on his laptop before pointing at the scanner-like device, "Place your badge over there."

Inserting his badge as the man instructed, the scanner emitted a "Beep" sound a second later.

"Your room number is 34, located on the third floor." The man elaborated and added before Kael able to say a word, "Don't forget to take your badge."

Kael thanked the man and resumed his pace toward the dormitory.

...

'This room will serve as my home for the next three years, whereas the people inside will be my family for three years.' Kael reflected inwardly as he stared at the door ahead of him. He wondered what his roommates would look like.

Taking a deep breath, Kael slipped his badge over the scanner, and the door opened on its own shortly thereafter.

Moving his legs forward, Kael slowly stepped inside his room.

As he got into the room, his eyes darted around in a flash, surveying the room. Unknowingly, a sigh of relief escapes from his mouth after concluding no one was around except him. He also spotted a familiar yellow suitcase and a backpack located on the ground right beside one of the three beds.

It was a medium-sized room with three single beds, three small desks enough to fit a laptop or other stuff, and a bathroom.

Marching towards his suitcase, Kael is about to arrange his stuff, when he hears the "Bip" sound coming from the door.

Halting his action, Kael immediately turned around, only to find a man with a sloppy look was leaning tiredly against the wall.

"Gosh, it's so tiring. The sun seems to like roasting me alive." Kael heard the man's complaint.

The man then looked up and spotted Kael across from him and was currently staring at him. They both stared at each other with the same intensity for a few seconds before the door buzzed once again.

"Hello, my dear roommates!" A man with tanned skin and a muscular build sprang out from the outside and shouted as soon as he landed in everyone's sight.

When his gaze swept across the room, he realized that two men gave him a strange gaze.

Scratching his cheek lightly, the man asked with a dumb look on his face, "Is there something wrong?"

With height towered over 2 meters, clothes that barely cover all his twitching muscles, Kael had a hard time maintaining his poker face watching the supposed scary man behaving silly.

Sensing the man's discomfort, Kael smiled, "Nothing, for starters, let's introduce ourselves first."

After knowing each other's identity, Kael learned that the man who had a lazy demeanor was named Tanaka. He was about the same height as Kael, but looks like a stick due to his thin body. His face was devoid of brightness and pale as a sheet of paper. Since it was their first meeting, Kael didn't inquire further than his name, hobby, etc.

On the other hand, the muscle guy was a polar contrast to Tanaka. His jolly character almost caused Tanaka to be quickly irritated. Luckily, Kael realized it ahead of time and jumped to his rescue by diverting his attention to let Tanaka take a break.

His name is Galagar, a man with a sturdy body and hard muscles. He told Kael a lot of things concerning his life and keeps showing off his body and strength. He didn't even give Kael a chance to talk and continued chirping like a bird. Much to Kael's dismay, Tanaka, who has been rescued by Kael didn't hesitate to plug an earphone into his ears.

Kael saw this becoming aware of his intention. He then proceeded to cast a glare at him with an expression saying, "That's cheating!"

Confronted by Kael's accused gaze, Tanaka merely shrugged his shoulders and slumped on his bed.

'Damn it!' Kael cursed inwardly. Before he knew it, Galagar invited him to the canteen as he needed to eat a meal according to his scheduled time to eat to preserve his body shape.

Since he wasn't wicked enough to refuse someone's offer, Kael with much reluctance nodded his head. They also asked Tanaka if he was interested in joining them, but the only reply they got was the sound of him snoring loudly.

In the end, both of them leave the room quietly and start to head to the canteen.
