An Odd Advance

"That is the end of the class, My Lady," Kael said, closing the book with a light thud.

Elsyia sunk into the chair, she was exhausted from all that she had learnt today, surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as she thought, even though she spent a lot of time trying to learn the alphabets properly, she still had problems recognizing the letter 'b and d' in lowercase.

"You must be tired already. Do you mind water?" Kael asked Elsyia, to have her nod her head with her eyes still closed shut.

Kael quickly stood up from the chair, walking over to the table where a jug stood. Slowly, he poured water into the glass cup, filling it up.

"I will be in the palace everyday until you familiarize the alphabets." He said, walking towards her. His steps slow and deliberately, not wanting to spill any water.

Elsyia nodded, her head felt like it was about to explode, her throat was as dried as a desert. Kael taught her how to write down some alphabets, by writing his down, then telling her to imitate his. When she tried hers, none came out like his, the letters kept flying around, no matter how hard she tried to write on the straight line.

"Here you go," He said, handing the cup over to her. Elsyia snatched the cup from him, gulping down every single drop of water, till the cup was empty. Her throat had felt itchy because of how much she spoke, she couldn't remember the last time she had to speak for so long. She used the sleeve of her dress to wipe away the droplets of water by her mouth, meanwhile,Kael brought his handkerchief forward, slowly dabbing the water away from her chin.

Her face instantly flushed red as she pushed his hand slightly. "T-there is no need for that, I can do it myself." She said with a light stammer, her face burning even brighter.

"Of course you can," Kael replied, his smile broadening. He tucked his handkerchief back into his pocket, noticing Elysia staring hard at him. "Is there anything I can help My Lady with?" He inquired, his eyes locking with her green eyes.

"You're not a dragon," Elysia blurted out, before covering her mouth. She didn't mean to say it out loud, but Kael's demeanor was nothing like that of the King's, Lord Dargan's or even Sevastian's. He didn't have any intimidating look on his face and he barely had an aura around him.

Kael laughed out for a moment, while Elysia stared at him with questions lurking her eyes. "Yes, My Lady. I am not a dragon, but a human, just like yourself," he replied. Elsyia had thought as much, "The King had exclusively requested a human governor for you." She heard him say.

"W-why would he do that?" Elsyia asked, her brows knotting together to form a frown. "I'm just a mere servant he rescued, I don't mean anything to him," she sighed. Kael noticed her expressing saddening and the hair on his body stood in fright.

"My lady, I'm sure you mean a lot to the king, or perhaps the King is just being generous," he replied. Elsyia looked up at him, staring into his Amber eyes.

"A generous dragon?" She huffed, disgust evident on her face.

Kael took her hand in his, his thumb gently caressing her pulse point, trying to keep her calm. "Somethings are better left unknown, and I'm pretty sure the King is just being generous," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

The Large door swung open, Sevastian barging into room unannounced. He stared at the two, who were seated very close to each other, his eyes travelling to their hands which was intertwined.

Kael who noticed the King's advisor's gaze, jumped up from the chair immediately creating a safe distance between  himself and the young lady.

"Sevastian," he greeted with a bow. "We were just rounding up the class." He added, nervously laughing.

"That's fine, Kael," Sevastian said, his tone bored as his gaze moved from Elysia to Kael and back to Elsyia. "Shall we?" He asked to which she nodded. Her face was already flushed red. He had caught them holding hands, what had gotten into her head? why didn't she push Kael's hand away?

"I'll take my leave now," Kael announced, hurriedly packing the books into his bag before dashing out of the study.

"It's not what you think," Elsyia blurted out, immediately Kael was out of the room as she got up from the chair. She didn't want him to misconstrue what just happened. "I was upset and he was only trying to comfort me," she explained with pleading eyes, hoping he would understand.

Sevastian took in a deep breath. "Lady Elsyia, you must understand that you're very special to His Majesty, at least to some extent, and he takes Possessiveness towards what belongs to him. King Azrael would not be pleased if found out his 'pet' was being held by someone other than him. If you don't want anyone getting hurt unnecessarily, try not to touch any man." He explained softly, despite his voice being extremely calm, his eyes held fire in them, as if warning her.

Swallowing the lump in her throat, she replied. "I'll take to that in the future," her voice unmistakably shaken.

Taking in a deep breath, he realized he must have scared her by what he said, he clarified. " King Azrael doesn't take interest in just anyone and when he does, he tends to be overly attached to it. Making him extremely possesive," he explained in the best way he could. Fortunately, the young lady seemed to understand, she nodded her head in acknowledgement, walking towards him.

"Are you still taking me around the palace?" She questioned, her voice small and vulnerable.

Sevastian's lips almost tipped up into a smile, but he refrained from doing so as he looked down at his wrist watch, they had about forty minutes before dinner, "Of course, I will, we still have a few minutes before dinner" he said, holding the door for her as they walked out of the study.
