Chapter 35: Training and Prayers

We’re led out of the small building one at a time, and taken to a separate area of the barracks. Here, there is a stone building without any windows, and only one heavily guarded door. We’re pushed inside, and by the minimal light filtering through the open door, they release everything but the collars around our necks.

“Dominik!” I yell, rushing over and tackling him to the ground in an embrace. He wraps his arms around me, hugging me tightly against him.

“Are you alright?” he asks, grabbing my injured hand and looking at it. As he examines the wound, I can see anger filling up his eyes.

“I’m fine,” I say, pulling my hand away. It stings, but I ignore the pain. “Are you okay? They haven’t hurt you, have they?”

“Only my pride,” he answers. He places both hands on either side of my head and pulls me into a kiss. I deepen the kiss, my voice escaping as a whine as I can’t get as close to him as I want.
