The illegitimate child

Even under the cool night breeze, Noah ran cold sweats as he stood alone on the rooftop of the Strombell's mansion.

"Sasha," Noah tried to call out for the woman who was missing from the venue, but for some reason, his voice got trapped inside his throat.

He knew that something went wrong with Sasha after meeting Zach Reagan.

His blue eyes frantically searched for any traces of Sasha and fell on the fading marks of the water drops.

"Noah," Lia's panting voice pulled him back to reality, "Did you find her?"

She asked her brother who appeared petrified.

"Lia, can..can..you check whether she fell from the rooftop?" Noah stuttered as he spat out the words which were fogging his mind.

"What do you mean?" Lia tried to catch her breath,

Noah raised his palm and pointed towards the fading watermarks on the white terrace floor,

"It's her."

"Huh?" Lia couldn't comprehend what she just heard, "What are you saying?"

"She was...her clothes were dripping,"

As she heard Noah spewing something gibberish, Lia walked over and grasped her brother's shoulders,

"Noah, take a deep breath." She advised in a comforting voice.

Though young master Noah appeared headstrong by putting a brave front before the world, only his sister knew the fear hidden deep inside him.

He was scared of blood and gore.

When Rachel Stevens, took her life, Noah was the one who found the corpse of his mother lying in a pool of blood.

It was a traumatic experience even for a fifteen-year-old boy.

"Lia, just look for her." Noah pushed away from the caring arms which hold on to him,

Lia patted his shoulders and headed towards the parapet with steady steps.

"Oh Jeez, please don't," She chanted in her mind and touched the cold walls which reached till just above her midriff.

There were wet marks on the white walls which is like a piece of evidence that someone has been there.

Lia took a deep breath and looked down from the terrace.

Other than neatly trimmed grass, nothing was there.

Lia let out a sigh of relief.

"She is not here,"

A beam of hope flashed inside Noah's brain and he wiped the sweat beads on his forehead in relief.

Once his mind got clear of fear, Noah strode towards his sister and inclined on the parapet to take a glance at the empty backyard lawn of strombell's mansion.

"Are you okay now?" Lia asked her brother who appeared haggard,

Noah nodded and leaned on the wall for support,

"Where would have she gone, Lia? I am just scared of her...Sasha...she didn't seem okay when we left the garden,"

"Did something happen, while I am away?" Lia asked in an interrogating tone.

"She appeared placid in the beginning, but suddenly she started crying," Noah tried to recall the incidents which have happened while he was Sasha,

"Did she cry randomly...I mean without any triggering event, like did she see or talked about something which might-" Lia quickly changed into her doctor mode and sought answers from Noah who followed Sasha for the entire evening.

"She did say that she is a patient of yours and," Noah stopped for a moment, "She met a family..ah Nah, she saw a family from afar,"

"A family?"

"Yes, she saw the Reagans. She was looking at Zach Reagan," Noah casually said, "Her mood changed after seeing him,"

"Zach Reagan!" Lia's eyes widened in surprise, "Did they had any conversation or exchange of greetings or something like that?"

"No, they didn't talk to each other. I don't think Mr Reagan would have paid attention to Sasha. Why did you ask? Do they know each other?"

"Her Surname is Reagan," Natalia said with an indifferent face.

"Sasha is from the Reagan family?" Noah retorted with a hinge of amusement.

Since Reagan's belong to the top elites in Soul city, he was acquainted with the children in Reagan's family.

"I don't remember Poppy introducing Sasha as her cousin while we attend the parties,"

"She never attends any parties," Lia conveyed the greatest insecurity of Sasha to a curious Noah, "Oh Jeez, why did I drag that poor child into this the hostile situation."

"Hostile situation? What hostile situation?" Noah asked again and again,

"She is a kind of an illegitimate child of Reagan's,"

"What?" Noah was suddenly curious.

The air around Sasha screamed of power and elegance which are inborn to the heirs of a wealthy family and Noah even guessed that she belonged to the elite class of the Soul city. But he never expected her to turn out as a member of the Reagan family, the giants in the Z country.

"I don't know," Lia said with a guilt-ridden face, "She never said anything about her parent's identity,"

"Lia, what kind of doctor are you? You don't know her contact details or her family details. You know nothing about your patient," Noah blamed his sister for being irresponsible.

"She only said that her parents never accepted her as their child and she doesn't have any family nor friends," Lia explained with a sympathetic look on her face,

"She was always reluctant to talk about her parents. But she did leave a guardian's name,"

"Who is it?"

"I am not sure about it," Lia informed as she tried to remember, "All of her contact details are kept in the files,"

"Oh then let's go and search for her details," Noah dusted off his palms and took a step ahead,

"To where?" Lia stopped him.

"To ask Mr Reagan about Sasha's contact details. What if he knows her place?"

"Are you dumb, Noah? Didn't you hear what I said?" Lia asked in an annoyed tone,

"She doesn't have any family or friends at this place. She was never welcomed at Reagan's and it won't be wrong to treat her as an orphan. She got no one. She is all alone and never wants to get associated with people,"

Lia flushed out the thoughts which weighed down her mind,

"She got no one?" Noah mumbled and suddenly the despair in Sasha's eyes made sense for him.

"Falling sick while suffering alone and dying alone, "

He thought, it was just Sasha's drunken rants, but whatever she said, it was from her own life.
