Chapter 46

It came when I least expected it. a gentle knock on the door, and a calm whisper from Yapi, summoning me out of my room in the name of sipping wine at his corner.

I was about to nap. The bed was ready, and I had just changed into my bedtime dress. I can't possibly step out with Yapi for any reason, but I was interested in giving ears to the way he woos women out of their rooms at night for his damnable interest.

"Come on, I know you are awake." He sounded like he was giggling. "Come, I have good wine, not the wack these people piled up in the refrigerator."

I said nothing. I just wanted to hear him waste his words till I fell asleep.

"You don't have to keep me waiting, you know." He came on. "I am your party chairman, and your big brother in politics, so, you should consider giving me a moment of your time."

I still gave him no response, not even a sigh. I was merely smiling at his lust-driven offer. Who doesn't know Yapi, the man for the job when it comes to combing for ladies and taking them to different hotels, lodging them there, and using them to ease his craving?

He has the money, and he is a fine man, so, the ladies out there fall for his decisive tongue, not minding the fact that he is married and they always see his wife on the TV being a wife by his side on big occasions.

"Come on, Sita Kouassi." He went on. "Why are you so stingy with me, but generous with the general? Do you think I have no clue of what's happening between you and the general? He visits your place all the time and always has his way with you. Imagine that old idiot sending you bouquets and making you ignore young blood like me?"

I fought the urge to laugh. Yapi is crazy, but I don't blame him. Who knows what the general told him about me? The old man might have lied just to get Yapi into a burning heart session.

"You know I've been lusting after you, Sita." Yapi continued shamelessly. "Okay, just this once and I won't disturb you again."

I remained silent. He banged hard at the door with rage. Now, the hidden side of him was taking its toll on him already, anger, the will to exercise dominance over those he thinks are under him.

"Open this damn door else I break it down, you stubborn kid." He yelled. "Your mother is a lot better. She was good with her mates in her days, but look at you, even after retirement, your mother is still more relevant than you can ever be because she knows what to do and when to do it."

I still said nothing. Silence was always the better commodity. He banged once more but the door was strong enough to break his hand if he wanted to risk it.

"Sorry, I was rash." He said politely. "But I'm pained in the chest. You ignore me too much."

He left the door. his footsteps said it all. He was gone, no more at my door, and probably wouldn't return to it. I lay down on my bed, took a long breath, and shut my eyes. finally, I could sleep peacefully, and not be disturbed by someone with a great lustful ache in the prick.

My phone buzzed. It was the alarm that reminded me of when it was a new day. I didn't stop it. I allowed it to buzz till I could hear it no more in my sleep.

Morning came fast. I'm not that sure but it felt as though the sun was eager to rise and warm my skin through the open window.

I rolled over in bed and yawned heavily, stretched my arms, and looked towards the wall clock. 10:00 and I was still rolling and yawning in bed. I narrowed my eyes, and it popped into my head that today was the day for the outreach and I should be at the charity organization's main office as early as is required.

I rolled off of the bed and made for the bathroom, but the doorbell rang, followed by a gentle knock. I paused and remained quiet till the knock came again.

"Room service." The voice said.

That voice was Yapi's. he had done his best to shape it and make it sound different, but he was playing his dice with the very wrong person.

Well, I had to pretend I fell for his game, but not with my nipples poking at my bedtime dress, and my thighs on display.

"Wait, I'm coming," I said in pretense.

"Okay, but please hurry." That was quite clever of him.

I washed my face and slipped on a bra and a long gown, tied my scattered hair with a scarf just to make sure I didn't look anything foxy.

"Ma'am?" he said.

"Almost there." I edged to the door and opened the door. it was him, Yapi, just like I guessed earlier. He was dressed in a suit, and his perfume was such a rich one.

"Good morning, Sita." He greeted me with a warm smile.

"Good morning, honorable." I returned his smile as though nothing happened last night.

He looked around him and scuffed. "Are you dressed? I can drop you."

I smiled and shook my head, that was my sweet way of declining his offer, and on realizing I had declined his offer, he said nothing more. He merely swaggered.

I shut the door; the goal is not him at this point in the time. I should be somewhere, and that's what I'm up for.
