Chapter 72
There was a vacant lounge chair next to the pool, near where he stood, and Jason took it. It might be nice to just sit for a minute. He stared at the water, and then at the sun going down over the river.
“You look sad,” Sophie said from behind him. “Mind if an old friend, and one of your best clients joins you?”
“I don’t know if it’s a good idea, Sophie.”
“Of course, it’s a good idea. I wanted to talk to you about possibly coming in and cleaning my office as well.”
“You have an office?” Jason asked.
“Yes, I’ve become a life coach,” Sophie said.
“Oh, I…” Jason said, unsure of what to say.
“I’m joking,” Sophie assured him. “I went back to accounting. I was a tax accountant before I married Gio, and I thought I’d hang my own shingle. Slide over, and I’ll tell you all about it.”
Jason hesitated.
“Oh, come on,” Sophie said. “My feet are killing me in these heels. I wore them just for you, you know.”
