The Invitation

Delly released a nervous sigh as her gaze landed on the very tall building as its busy employees walk with urgency. Patting her chest for the millionth time, she finally disembarked her car as Johnny, her personal driver, smiled at her before driving away.

Delilah's clacked against the cement floor as she steeled herself. Her brown hair shimmered under the light of the sun as her long legs walked elegantly. Her face had a small amount of makeup that highlighted her small red lips and her green eyes tinted with yellow that looked like jewels.

A man yawn wide before coughing in a big heaps. His big eyes widen even more as his gaze landed on the beautiful lady walking in big stride with a smile. Fumbling around on his chest, his hand finally grasp the walkie talkie and spoke in urgency as his voice trembled in both excitement and nervousness.

"Attention, Our Boss has come!"

As the sight of the entrance, Delilah couldn't hold her excitement as she smiled at the guards before one of them woke from his daydream and quickly open the door. Walking inside, a big cheer erupted and Delilah stood in the front lobby of her company as her stuff popped balloons and held a big sign of 'Welcome Back, our President!".

Filled with joy, Delilah's eyes became moist as she told herself not to cry. Not seeing her company for years, she had nearly forgotten how she started her own business and the feeling of excitement that came with it.

Behind the staffs, a group of people came forward and saw Dylan, Ethan, and her bestfriends holding a small red velvet cake. Walking towards her, they uttered the same words as everyone, filled with pride.

"Are you ready to resume to your original position?"

Eleanor smiled as she chuckled at her friends expression. Delilah didn't trust her voice not to crack so she could only nod her head before hugging all of them. She felt grateful that although she fought against them for not agreeing her plan to go with Brian, they didn't forgot her at all. She promised herself that she would never take their kindness and love for granted and would return that things that they did to her.

"Why are you guys here?"

Delilah murmured as she wiped the tears on the corners of her eyes, afraid that she would really break down in the front lobby.

"Before that, lets go to your office so you can eat your cake."

The five of them boarded the elevator before going up to the highest floor. As they reached their destination, Delilah took the lead as they followed behind her like a group of lackeys.

"Good morning, Ms. Heath. It's nice to see you once again."

"Hello, Amy! Thank you for keeping the company float. I'll extend your vacation whenever you want, just let me know."

"Thank you, Ma'am but I like my job especially when it comes to dealing foolish people."

Delilah laugh at Amy's words. Originally, Amy was supposed to be a lawyer but because of her so righteous personality, the law firm that she worked had to quietly fire her so as to not put her in danger because she put the son of a wealthy man behind bars for raping a couple of minors and beating them for not heeding to his wishes.

Angry at the society, Delilah met her as she beat up a couple of men who tried to publicly laid their hands on a mother. Amused with her actions, Delilah poached Amy and made her her personal secretary. Amy immediately told her the truth and hid nothing, she could tell what kind of person Amy was because of her clear eyes that were so pure that it was impossible to held an ounce of malice. And since then, Amy was loyal to Delilah and as her right hand, she made sure that those who worked under Delilah would take a vow to be loyal no matter what circumstances they were in. But Delilah doesn't know this and Amy intend on keeping this secret.

Arriving in her office, she mad missed the view and what it felt like working overtime. She truly became a fool for listening to Brian's word and wished she was a little smarter back then. Shaking her past, she walked to her desk and dropped her bag as she joined her friends on the couch.

Dylan and Acacia sat on the right while Ethan and Eleanor took the left side. Delilah took the arm chair in the middle as Dylan took an envelope from his jacket's pocket. Laying it down on the coffee table, the intricate and luxurious design made everyone alert as the overbearing scent of a certain specie alerted their minds.

"This is..."

"Yup. An invitation from the Dragon's clan."

Everyone became silent as they watched the envelope like it would tear itself.

"This is for me?"

Delilah asked as her gaze fixed on her cousin, making sure that he wasn't playing pranks on her. Sadly, she wanted to believe the latter but he boldly met her gaze and nodded his head with much difficulty.

"But I haven't been in our world for more than 2 years."

"That's true but the purpose for this ball is for the King to meet his 'Heart'. Last year he went Carnocia to attend a business meeting for the other kinds in that country and he didn't meet his destined one. 2 years ago, he also embarked on his journey to visit the other countries under the pretense of business for our kind while looking for his 'Heart."

"Yeah, I heard about this story. It went wild as the dragons were very unsettled for their King. He had been ruling his Kingdom for 50 years but never found her."

"And this is why a ball is being held this week because his 'Heart' might be in our country."

Ethan asked after Eleanor spoke her thoughts. They all stared at the enveloped, conflicted and in their own world.
