The Demon Twins

"I've heard the rumors but you two truly look nothing alike." "Does it matter?" "I suppose not, kill me off then." "It's my turn, Louis." "Get on with it then." With a loud laugh, the giant man brought down his hammer. With a squelching sound, a head was ground to a paste. This story centers around twins, starting off from their youth they go through a gradual progress in getting stronger. The stronger they become, however, they realize more and more that they will never get peace. *** Disclaimer: Firstly, this is my first long novel. This story will be slow, hopefully, I can do proper world-building. Power progression also won't be all too fast. I have no editor, so grammar might be off at some places. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading it.

Chapter 23

Scoffing Mallory replied, "Sacra is a lesser demon like me. It'll take a hundred years for him to even become useful to you, not to mention it'll be near impossible to hide him. It'll be best to kill him now than to go through the effort of hiding him, you'll gain plenty of underlings with time."

"We don't want Sacra to be an underling, he's our brother," Arthur said firmly while Louis nodded. "Okay. Say we don't kill him, how are you going to hide him? You may not see his demonic features now, but that's because I'm hiding them. The second I'm gone, Sacra will be found and killed anyways. Don't think of using the hearts blessed by Lord Valefor to hide him either, they can only hide you two."

"Well, seeing that the two of you have no ideas go back to your daily schedule. You have two months to find a way to save Sacra, otherwise, he'll become a real sacrifice," shooing the twins away Mallory tickled Sacra's nose, cooing to him.

The twins racked their brains for two months but still couldn't find a way for Sacra to survive. Even if they managed to take him away from their mother, hiding him would be near impossible with the resources that they had. Fortunately, the two had made rapid progress with their elements, due to the pressure they had faced from both school and home.

The only thing left was their feet, after which they would completely be able to use their element freely and obtain entry into the Imperial Academy. What plagued their minds, however, were thoughts of what they actually were. Their dual identities, which were both beings hated by every race in the middle world, and their soon to be killed brother, be it by kin or through the discovery of his demonic identity.

The school allowed for those who were close to the limiter set by the imperial academy to skip out classes in order to have more time training themselves, so the twins had even more time than normal to be lost in thought. Despite racking their brains, however, the day had come. According to Mallory, the two were born in the middle of the night, after the sun had set.

They dragged their feet to Mallory's chambers with heavy hearts. As they were let in by the maidservant outside they could see a crooked smile along with a pair of fanatical eyes.
