The Demon Twins

"I've heard the rumors but you two truly look nothing alike." "Does it matter?" "I suppose not, kill me off then." "It's my turn, Louis." "Get on with it then." With a loud laugh, the giant man brought down his hammer. With a squelching sound, a head was ground to a paste. This story centers around twins, starting off from their youth they go through a gradual progress in getting stronger. The stronger they become, however, they realize more and more that they will never get peace. *** Disclaimer: Firstly, this is my first long novel. This story will be slow, hopefully, I can do proper world-building. Power progression also won't be all too fast. I have no editor, so grammar might be off at some places. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading it.

Chapter 22

"What about our human side, we obviously have human features," Arthur said, gesturing at Louis and himself. "You're not wrong about being human, but the only reason you two are human is because the previous Gemini were as well. To be honest, most of the original Gemini's abilities were unknown, even to the demon kings, we didn't even know if you two had to be born human. They never showed their abilities but were a part of the 12. The other 11's abilities were very straightforward."

"Taurus focused purely on strength and Sagittarius on accuracy. Although none of the zodiac's abilities were particularly flashy, they were the best in their fields. The only thing that we did get to know was that the Gemini always had a connection, as most twins do."

"I won't waste time to tell you more about the demons, you'll know once you eat my heart. What we need to do right now is to set a plan for after I die," Mallory said firmly. While Louis seemed to be lost in thought Arthur asked, "Is there any way for you not to die?"

"Arthur. While it is quite moving for you to care for me, don't think of me as your mother. I am merely a servant to the demon kings," Mallory said. "That's right," Louis said as he stepped out from his thoughts. "She never looked at us like all the other mothers looked at their children," Louis said while recalling Mallory's fake caring look. "How can you say that! She's still our mother!" Arthur let out a slightly pained yell.

Shaking his head Louis instead told Mallory of what had happened at school. "Perfect! Even though you two are actually quite untalented when compared to the many geniuses in the world, that'll all change when you become ten."

Slapping her forehead Mallory added, "I almost forgot to tell you. You might have wondered what part of you has the potential of a demon king. While every other demon gains a new heart every hundred years, you two, along with the rest of the selected twelve gain them every ten years."

"So rejoice! You two have potential that others would kill hundreds to thousands for. Passing that test to get to the Imperial Academy will be a breeze. As for being an inner court student," Mallory paused with a small smile. "That title shouldn't hold you for too long."

"Okay. We go to the Imperial Academy after we turn ten and eat your hearts," Arthur said while visibly blanching. "What about Sacra?"
