The Demon Twins

"I've heard the rumors but you two truly look nothing alike." "Does it matter?" "I suppose not, kill me off then." "It's my turn, Louis." "Get on with it then." With a loud laugh, the giant man brought down his hammer. With a squelching sound, a head was ground to a paste. This story centers around twins, starting off from their youth they go through a gradual progress in getting stronger. The stronger they become, however, they realize more and more that they will never get peace. *** Disclaimer: Firstly, this is my first long novel. This story will be slow, hopefully, I can do proper world-building. Power progression also won't be all too fast. I have no editor, so grammar might be off at some places. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading it.

Chapter 20

The students quickly began to murmur among themselves. The older classes seemed to give off a knowing look while the younger classes seemed to realize something from looking at the older children.

"Every few years the Imperial Academy goes to both the Western and Eastern Kingdoms in order to recruit new students into the academy. Their requirements are usually very strict but you will be able to become an inner court as soon as you arrive there. The Imperial Academy takes the best of both the east and west and combines them into one. For those of you who don't know of the way the east teaches their students they are separated by outer to core disciple."

"All students who can use their elements throughout their body will be chosen to be inspected by the imperial teacher that will come soon. The imperial teachers only come by sporadically, in fact, it is uncertain if they will come back while you all are still students. So work hard, this opportunity isn't given to many. Make the nobility of the Western Kingdom proud."

After repeating himself many times the old man left the podium with a dismissal. The students were led back to their classrooms by their homeroom teachers who all singled out their talented students. Jack came to the twins with a slight expectation in his eyes. "You two! How far along are you with your attributes."

Briefly glancing at one another the two started to glow with a red and blue light. Droplets of lava dropped from Arthur's knees while ice crystalized around Louis's. Jack looked around with a slight jumpy feeling, lowering his voice he said, "While the headmaster said that those who can use their element throughout their body will be examined, in truth, only those who are below the age of 12 would be accepted."

Looking around again Jack spoke, "No one here in your age group has as much control over their elements as you two do and you're very close to the cutoff. The imperial teacher will come within the year so work hard, you're guaranteed to start off as a sergeant if you graduate as an inner court student from the Imperial Academy."

The twins told Jack that they would work harder and left, but they had no time to actually think about anything other than their own problems. The two skipped out on their weapons training and ran to Mallory's room.
