The Demon Twins

"I've heard the rumors but you two truly look nothing alike." "Does it matter?" "I suppose not, kill me off then." "It's my turn, Louis." "Get on with it then." With a loud laugh, the giant man brought down his hammer. With a squelching sound, a head was ground to a paste. This story centers around twins, starting off from their youth they go through a gradual progress in getting stronger. The stronger they become, however, they realize more and more that they will never get peace. *** Disclaimer: Firstly, this is my first long novel. This story will be slow, hopefully, I can do proper world-building. Power progression also won't be all too fast. I have no editor, so grammar might be off at some places. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading it.

Chapter 10

"Use all the skills you have, I can stop you from causing fatal wounds, and we have a healer too," the instructor said. "Really? We can use anything?" Arthur asked with eyes that seemed to shine. The instructor, seemingly amused by his enthusiasm, replied, "Anything you want."

"Ahahaha, you ready Louis?" Arthur said with his gleaming eyes. Louis shrugged while rolling his eyes, "Why are you so excited when you always lose."

"Do you two use any weapons?" the instructor asked the twins. "Well, we could never afford weapons before," the twins said while looking at each other.

"Alright, then we can start off barehanded I suppose. Start whenever you two are ready."

Arthur let out a roar before charging forward, his hands and arms starting to glow red and burn through his clothes. "I thought that was your favorite shirt," Louis said while throwing small shards of ice.

Arthur blocked the shards of ice with his arms, which quickly melted them into water. Arthur managed to close the distance between the two and threw out a right hook, Louis leaned back unnaturally and before he fell put his left arm behind his back. From his hands, a small pillar of ice nailed into the ground and boosted him forward again.

Louis created a shard of ice with his right hand and used the momentum of his ice pillar to try and cut Arthur. Arthur, crossing his arms in an x, blocked the shard and shuffled backwards hurriedly.

Louis, gaining some distance, once again began pelting out small ice shards. Arthur let out another roar and charged forward, with his whole upper body beginning to glow red, he ignored the ice shards and reached Louis again.

Louis's right hand briefly hovered over his mouth before punching towards Arthur. Steam was starting to rise from the two, Louis, covering his arms with a similar glow of blue formed ice shards every now and again while Arthur formed droplets of lava to counter.

Both fought each other in a fistfight with no technical skill for a minute while the soldiers on the sidelines hollered for their respective bets to win. The two clinched and breathed roughly on one another.

The instructor was slightly smiling while shaking his head, the twins showed no finesse after they started to fight with their fists, the fight appeared to be a draw. Suddenly, Louis opened his mouth and spat something out.

Arthur, caught unawares, was cut slightly on his neck. A shard of ice lay on the ground glistening slightly through the dirt and blood.

"Ack, you dirty fighter," Arthur said while plopping to the floor. "I told you, you'll never win," Louis replied while similarly plopping on the floor. The instructor called for the healer and the soldiers watching exchanged money grumbling to themselves. John was laughing the loudest of all the soldiers having bet with a month of his salary on Louis.

"Stop laughing you dimwit, you were sweating bullets the whole fight," Derrik berated him while shaking his head. "I believed in the little ice boy the whole time," John said while defending himself passionately. "You lot will never match my discerning eye! Hahahaha!" John shouted excitedly. The other soldiers clicked their tongues while forking over their money.
