Kir was as good as dead...
At least until the blade headed for his guts suddenly stopped as the demon seized up, before dropping his blade and clutching at his chest.
Kir finished drawing Kangetsu and was about to strike when he realized that the glowing mark matched one he'd seen only once before...
"The Forbidding... it's... you?" the demon said.
From behind him burst four more demons, and as soon as they saw the glowing mark of Forbidding on Kir's chest, they lowered their weapons. Kir could feel that their own marks were warning them against attacking the ward of the Forbidding.
It could only mean one thing...
"You serve Maledict..." Kir said.
"Yes. Please forgive us," the first demon said. "We saw that one and followed, thinking they were a spy-"
