DEMON KING'S PROPOSAL

What's going on? She had never met the crown prince before in her life so why would he want to marry her?

"What do you mean by that, your highness?" She decided to voice her confusion.

The Crown prince didn't seem bothered by her question "Actually, I saw you walk in when you arrived with Aldrich and I was entranced by you, I wonder if you'll give me a chance to get to know you more" He explained.

Zelda stared at him with eyes wide as a saucer, she couldn't comprehend what he was talking about. Of all people it had to be the crown prince though?

"Who would have thought our unfeeling prince would fall for your daughter, Duke Peepgrass" King Donovan teased Duke Peepgrass and both men bursted into laughter.

"My daughter seems to be in a bit shock ..she's a bit unfeeling too if I must say"

"Wait, I'm sorry your highness but I would have turn you down" She replied, much to the surprise of everyone. They all thought she'll say yes at once. I mean who won't when the Next King to be asks them to be his wife? Isn't that like the greatest honour ever?

"Is she okay at all?"

"She's so rude to the prince, how could she reject him?"

"I would say yes immediately if it was me"

"The prince never shows interest in girls and this is the first time"

The gossips went on and on...

"May I know why you are rejecting me? Did I do something wrong?" The Crown prince also didn't understand why she'll reject him. They are strangers so they could start knowing one another from then on, right?

Duchess Peepgrass jabbed at her daughter's side, trying to make her behave but Zelda wasn't going down without a fight.

"It's not about you, your highness. I'm the one who is interested in someone else so I can't accept your proposal" She said with a polite smile.

The entire ground went silent after her words.

Ze'v watched in amusement at what was going on.

"I didn't know The human race were this interesting" He said to his second in command who was standing behind him.

"It's an eye opener for me too, My lord"

"Since Lady Zelda is interested in someone else then we should know who the person is, so we can set them up together. Isn't that right?" The King interjected.

"That's right" The people agreed.

"This is not going to end well, what should we do?" Duchess Peepgrass whispered to her husband.

"We cannot intervene now or Zelda would blow this out of proportion" Duke Peepgrass replied his wife. The both knew the kind of daughter they had and what she could do.

"I would love to tell but the thing is tha...."

"Young lady"

The entire ground froze at the Demon King's call. It was like a frozen spell was casted upon them that no one moved for a while. No one expected he was going to intervene and more so, talking to Zelda. They wondered what he wanted to say.

Zelda turned to his direction curiously. She was just as curious as the people as to why he called her.

"Your Majesty, of what help might I be for you?"

Ze'v stood from his sit and slowly walked towards her like a panther would at it's prey. He exuded the aura of pure nobility which even their King was missing with his every move.

"What's your age?" He asked with an amused smile on his lips.

'Why is he asking for my age?' She internally thought but replied regardless.

"I'm to be Twenty several days from now, your majesty" She curtsied as she replied.

He finally stopped several steps from her which was precisely beside King Donovan, it was as though he didn't want to overstep his boundary.

"Twenty is just the right age then" He hummed then continued "If the person you are interested in isn't interested in you, would you accept my proposal then?" He added, much to everyone's shock.

What the hell is the Demon King saying??????

Zelda was calm when she asked "What proposal?"

"The one for you to marry me Instead" He completed with a grin.

Zelda thought she was hearing things or probably was hallucinating after his words.

Is it that she had been so delusional that she had now started imagining him proposing marriage to her?

She actually had to face Reese in order to confirm she wasn't hallucinating but the blank look on her assistant was a dead giveaway that she wasn't hearing things and so she turned back to him.

"Is it for real? are you seriously proposing marriage to me?" She asked just to be sure.

"It's what it's like" He replied ambiguously.

....

The ride back to Duke Peepgrass's mansion was utterly quiet as Zelda was still in a deep thought and Reese didn't seem to be in the mood for discussion either.

It was still a shocker to Reese that her Mistress had accepted the Demon King's proposal just like that. She didn't even consider rejecting at all!

Zelda felt the carriage stop, which made her look outside and realized they were home. Reese immediately stepped out, so her mistress could too. They both silently walked back to her quarters which made the household servants curious, Zelda wasn't the type to be quiet at all.

Her parents didn't follow them back as they were having a meeting with their King and the Demon King about the marriage which Zelda had consented to. The King had told them to wait behind as the discussion was urgent, the marriage was happening the next day, after all.

The moment the door to her room was closed, Zelda's expression changed from Indifference to excitement.

"I'm finally going to be out of here!!" She screamed while jumping with sheer happiness, leaving Reese to stare at her in disbelief.

"Shouldn't you be scared of being married so fast, and to being that is different from us. Let's talk about the fact that we have to leave for their country too" Reese decided to remind her, just in case she doesn't know what she's going to face.

Zelda stopped jumping and went to have her sit on the chair which was in front of her dressing table.

"So what if I'm marrying a Demon? No one said a Demon has to be worst than humans, right? And again, why did you use 'we' when you were talking about leaving for another country?" Zelda questioned with an eyebrow raised. Reese on the other hand doesn't understand what her Mistress was talking about.

"I'm the one getting married and not you, so where are you going? Don't tell me you are thinking of following me?"

Reese thought she was hearing things "What are you talking about Miss, of course I have to follow you" Her voice was louder then usual.

Zelda bursted into a feat of giggles on seeing Reese's expression.

"You are really scared of not going with me, isn't it?" Then she continued laughing, much to Reese's displeasure.

"Please don't play that joke on me anymore" Reese said as she walked out in anger.

"Reese, are you angry? come on don't be, I was only joking" She called after her but Reese was already out.

Zelda took a deep breath as she thought about the twist in the day's event. When she was leaving this morning, she had never thought she would be getting married the next day. Now that she was alone, the reality of what was going on finally sunk in.

She was seriously going to leave the world she had always known for another ....

"I think I'll be fine"
