Chapter 6: The Black Lady of the Castle

Continued...

The lady, now aware of her intruder turned in her place to capture him within her gaze. Her stare is known to put even the most Conceited into a trance as they often lost themselves in their haunting beauty.

However, Dante being devoid of emotions has never first handedly experienced what it was like to be dazed, as often he was the one to put others in one, including his sister.

"Serena, your subtle enchantments fail to ensnare me this time like every time before." Dante's whisper reached the ears of the lady causing her stare to halt as she admitted her defeat with a chuckle.

Serena, the black lady of the castle known for her immense beauty. Her skin dark and glowy like the light of moon shining upon dark waters. Her pink hued crystalline orbs adding haunt to their mystifying gaze that captures all in it's hold, often unabling them to refuse her commands.

"Ah, it often escapes me that it never works on you. Though your silent presence casts a spell that leaves me in awe every time." she remarked, her voice a symphony of admiration and amusement that echoed through the opulent chamber.

Serena waved her hand; without a word the command was followed and the chamber that was once hustling and bustling with her servant hollows now housed only the two eccentric siblings.

The black lady, resplendent in her elegance, greeted Dante with a smile that held the promise of endless nights. Her pink eyes, pools of unfathomable knowledge, sparkled with a mischievous gleam as she glided effortlessly behind him.

"I am always surprised by your presence, dear brother," she remarked, her voice a melody that danced upon the winds of fate. "You move with a grace that defies perception, a mystery that even I cannot unravel."

Dante offered a wry smile in response, his words a fleeting echo of amusement. "Mystery is the essence of our existence, sister," he mused, his voice a whisper upon the tapestry of time. "To unravel it would be to deny the very fabric of our being."

She marveled at his presence, for even after all this time, his arrival remained a marvel of mystery. His words, though silent, carried the weight of wisdom and wit, drawing forth laughter from the depths of her being.

"Perhaps it is the allure of the unknown that draws me near,"

With a graceful motion, she twirled a strand of his golden hair between her fingers, marveling at its silken texture before releasing it to its dormant state.

"Are you going to have gold hair now, Serena?"

Dante, ever the enigma, said with a witticism that elicited further laughter from his sister's lips, a symphony of joy amidst the solemnity of their existence.

In the embrace of camaraderie, their conversation ebbed and flowed like the tides of eternity, a dance of words and silence that wove through the corridors of their shared reality. In the midst of mundane existence, they found solace in the ephemeral beauty of their bond.

"I came here to ask you something..."

"You rarely ask anything. It is usually you, who have the answers to most in the cosmos. And what you don't know about, you don't want to find out." Serena was intrigued as to what Dante wanted from from her.

"I have been feeling something lately..." The words barely heard by his sister before she interjected.

"You? Are you okay, brother?" The lady didn't honestly have any idea what that meant.

"I am fine. Pardon, it was an error of phrasing on my part. I have been seeing something, an image lately, in one of the things you call, dreams." Dante waited no longer than a second to rectify the misunderstanding that elicited such a reaction from Serena.

"Ah! The dreams. The realm of utter excitement. The more I go there and see what they see, I wish to never come back. But they can both be a curse and a blessing." Her last few haunting words were whispered in the chamber as she looked lost to her own mind.

"I believed dreams- in either case- were one of those few fortunities that you were oblivious from. No matter how I tried to inflict; it seemed adamant to escape you. What changed, Dante?" When she speaks his name in such damp solemnity it was advertently clear that the matter was not something she was taking lightly.

"What changed..." Something that can be called a chuckle was heard in the room whilst his immaculate posture and features was hardly seen changing. Only a noticeable lift in his lips were present as if it was already there, though it wasn't before and it won't be for long.

"That is what I am here to find out, sister. Change is a concept just as tangible to every single being as it is utterly meaningless to me. Perhaps you can see the 'why' of this?"

His hallowed word resonating deeply the meaning of being what he was, both a curse and a blessing in on it's own.
