Dear Mr. Anderson,
I was quite surprised to receive your letter, summoning a corporeal guardian at your current age is indeed rare, and I'm proud of you. Regarding your concerns about Animagus, I believe they are currently unnecessary.
Although an animal transformed by an Animagus seems to always match their guardian form, it does not necessarily mean they are identical. As far as I know, there are currently no known cases of Animagi being able to change their transformed animal along with their guardian form. Of course, this might be due to the extreme rarity of Animagi who possess both shape-shifting and patronus-casting abilities.
If you ever decide to learn Animagus transformation, please make sure not to practice secretly on your own. I will provide assistance in this regard.
Wishing you a pleasant Christmas vacation!
Deputy Headmistress Millerova Mag.
After reading Professor Mag's letter, Albert's mood did not improve. Professor Mag's intention was clear - she thought it was too early for Albert to consider Animagus matters. Moreover, Professor Mag was evidently not well-informed about this, as there were very few examples that could be studied.
"Perhaps I could write to Headmaster Dumbledore for advice." Albert took out a new piece of parchment, but after a moment's thought, he temporarily abandoned the idea.
Maybe he was indeed too impatient. Regardless of the outcome, it wouldn't change because of his will, unless the Marauder's Map could provide some help.
Setting aside these thoughts, Albert stood up and stretched, returning to the living room. Tom was napping on the couch, always enjoying sprawling across it when no one was home.
As Albert sat down on the edge of the couch, Tom's ears finally twitched. Tom approached, nuzzled Albert's arm with its head, then climbed onto his lap. This fellow was quite heavy.
"You should lose weight, being this fat. You won't even be able to catch a mouse." Albert muttered as he scratched Tom's ears and chin, even using a comb to groom him. Tom squinted its eyes in enjoyment.
"Tom, do you want to go to Hogwarts? But then, you'll have to catch mice to fill your belly on your own." Albert joked, "There are quite a few students who keep cats at the school. Maybe you'll find one you like."
"Meow!" Tom seemed to sense Albert's deep malice, jumped off his lap, and quickly moved behind someone's feet.
"Are you planning to take Tom to school?" Nia held Tom in her arms, asking curiously.
"No, just scaring Tom a bit. This guy has gotten fat again."
At that moment, a tapping on the window suddenly sounded from outside. Nia went over and, after opening the window, a brown owl flew in and dropped a letter in front of Albert.
"You have quite a lot of mail!" Nia looked surprised as Albert picked up the letter. Since returning from the Christmas vacation, he had received at least six letters, each from a different sender, with different wax seals.
"Your holiday seems to be busier than mine!" Herbert joked, placing another cup of hot cocoa in front of Albert. He asked curiously, "Who's it from this time? Another pen pal?"
"Professor Brode, the professor who taught at Hogwarts last term." Albert took a sip of hot cocoa, casually opened the envelope, glanced at the contents, and immediately understood what it was about.
"Here," he handed the letter to Herbert.
"Is it okay?" Herbert raised an eyebrow.
"Hmm."
"Did Professor Brode invite you to attend a gathering?" After reading the letter, Herbert felt a bit puzzled. A professor inviting his son to a gathering about alchemy – what was going on? Herbert really couldn't make sense of it.
It was like inviting a middle school student to a university professor's academic research event?
Moreover, the other party had earnestly arranged the itinerary, asking Albert to first meet at the Leaky Cauldron and then be escorted to their estate, where they would attend the alchemical gathering together. Finally, before school started, the professor would send Albert back to Hogwarts. There was no need to worry about Albert's safety at all.
"Well... it's just an academic gathering," Albert answered after some thought.
"An academic gathering?" Herbert's expression became even more peculiar. He sighed lightly, not saying anything more, "I'll take you there when the time comes."
"What are you talking about? Don't leave me out, okay?" Nia pouted slightly angrily. Daisy came out of the kitchen, curious about their conversation. After hearing Herbert's explanation, both of them were a bit stunned.
"You're going out to play again!" Nia was a bit displeased. Albert had barely been home for a few days after the Christmas vacation, and now he was going out again. There was no one to chat with, tell stories to, or watch TV together.
"I won't be gone for too long, I'll be back in a couple of days." Albert reassured.
"Oh, alright, I know you're a busy person." Nia murmured to herself as she pet Tom's belly, "Indeed, Tom is the best."
"Meow!" Tom rubbed against Nia's hand, and she somehow produced a small fish treat to feed it.
Albert was speechless. No wonder this cat was so fat.
On the twelfth of January, at noon, Albert appeared at the Leaky Cauldron. He had agreed to meet Professor Brode at twelve o'clock. Just as he was about to have a meal here, Professor Brode, cloaked, suddenly appeared in the bar without warning.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Brode, would you like something to drink?" Old Tom greeted Professor Brode with a smile.
"Oh, no need, I'm here to pick someone up." Professor Brode greeted Albert, "I hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long. Hold onto me, I'll take you somewhere."
"Apparation?" Albert asked curiously.
"Yes, the place doesn't have a Floo connection, so this is the only option." Professor Brode extended his left hand, and when Albert raised his hand to touch it, both of them disappeared from the Leaky Cauldron's backyard.
They appeared outside a rather nice villa, which could even be considered a small estate. However, it seemed that no one had lived here for a long time.
"This will be the venue for the alchemical gathering this time. We'll be staying here for a few days." Professor Brode winked at Albert, "There are quite a few interesting books inside, I think you might be interested."
"It seems like no one has lived here for a long time." Albert raised an eyebrow and asked.
"You're correct. However, it will soon have a new owner." Professor Brode didn't pay much attention to it and explained with a smile, "The house-elf caretaker has been diligently maintaining it, so it's clean inside, and you're free to stay here."
The two of them passed through a misty protective charm and entered the estate.
A house-elf stood at the entrance, bowing respectfully to them and guiding them into the hall.
"Noel, we'll be staying here for a few days. Help Mr. Anderson with his accommodations, it's the room right next to the study." Professor Brode instructed the house-elf, who discreetly sized up Albert before bowing slightly and leaving.
