The Disappearance

"Officer Aáron, are you aware of why the council called you in?" Said my interogator. "No, enlighten me on that matter will you?" I responded while lightening a smoke. "Well the report says you and your father left on a scout mission 1 hour ago, you carried beta team Charlie as your back up, and the report continues to say your the only one who arrived back at base." They read out to me through the one way glass. " Yeah what about it?" I said, "The only thing you brought back was your father's journal filled with his previous missions and discoveries" she continued, " Why are you, the new guy, the only person to come back from the mission?". "Maybe the old coots were just too old to trudge any further,and to be frank I should be asking why you sent me and your best team on a death mission! It was as if you were hoping all of us would die." I said while puffing smoke. The interogator went silent for a moment, as if she didn't know how to answer me. Then another voice broke the silence from the one way glass but this time it was a male, he sounded raggedy and his voice said 'i smoke 8 packs a day'. " We sent you on that mission to scout uncharted territory! It was a first star class mission and on top of that we even sent our best men with you so you'd feel safe! Your father would be disappointed in how little you care about the safety of your team" the man said. "Don't you ever talk about my father like that!" I snapped slamming my fist into the table. " If I didn't care would I have carried anything back at all? I took the only thing your 'trackers' could use to find him. The thing he slaves over and the thing he never leaves." I said, "If he never leaves it how do you have it?" The woman chimed in. " Because of a family promise dad made when I was still just a boy." I said choking down any feelings I'd have lingering from my past.

Evryone was panicked due to the news report story on tv earlier. Due to my age at the time I was too busy doing what kids do to listen. All I heard was evacuate and my parents packing bags and running around like ants. So being the small innocent and clueless child I was I opened the door and went outside, and that's when I saw....it. Whatever 'it was, it stood on top of a building pulsating red and was just transparent enough for you to faintly see it's nerves and veins. 'It' pointed it's head up and let out a glass shattering screech. Every window was broken around me and there were screams coming from every room in the apartment building I lived in. I tried to focus on the thing but the sound was too much for me and I started to black out. The last thing I saw before it all faded was the giant red demon unveil it's wings and take to the skies

"WILL YOU GET INTO IT ALREADY!?" The 2 interogators snapped."Fine you classless monkeys" I said in annoyance

I wake up over my mother's shoulder, "where are we going mom?" I asked in confusion "don't worry sweety it's gonna be ok" my mother said, " but mommy the monster it might get us and where's papa?" I asked. My mother fell silent.

"BULL CRAP!" the male interogator barked "THEN WHOS THE PERSON WHO WE SENT YOU ON THE MISSION WITH!??" He continued to yell. "He's my uncle" I replied. " Will you just tell us the promise and cut the mushy mushy backstory" the lady chirped in.

"Finnee, none of you know anything about setting backstory" I said annoyed

"Long and a wonderful story might I add, cut short my father gave my uncle the journal and the watch and told him that if he were ever in trouble he should give me those as a family heirloom" I said

" What was officer O'Riley dabbling in and why would he be in danger.." the lady thought out loud

"Maybe he was just as stupid as his te-"

*Boom*

A rumble and an explosion shook through the HQ interrupting the man

"Dear Lord...."

"They escaped...."

The lady said with fear in her voice
