Shortly after Akihiro met Annju she began leading him towards a massive tower. He was clueless as to where he was, so he'd tag along for a short while. The small Tower was no longer small, it was a massive metal tower in the woods. It looked to be about a millennium or two old, at least that's what it looked like with all the rust and vines covering it.
"Who were those other people with you?" he asked.
She smirked back at him. "Illusion Magic cast by myself!" she said proudly.
'Magic? What is that' he thought to himself. Instead of asking, he said, "Where are you taking me?" Akihiro questioned. Annju stopped walking for a brief moment and put her finger on her lip.
"I forgot to tell you. Sorry!" she apologized, facing him and bowing down then standing back up again rather fluently.
Clearly from her tone, this happens a lot.
"Since you are a Summon, I have to take you to get evaluated. A test of skills in other words." she said with a shy smile growing from the corners of her mouth.
He did not reply, and instead nodded. He had no intention of doing this girl's bidding. Rather he would kill her and escape this place. "What a plan..." Akihiro muttered to himself.
"Hey, I'm trying!" Annju pouted, thinking he was talking to her.
Immediately after she spoke, Akihiro made his move.
Charging behind Annju and holding the Nodachi to her neck, ready to kill her.
"Answer me very carefully, what do you plan to do with me?" Akihiro warned.
Her eyes were forming tears as she tried to squirm. "I'm sorry! I just wanted a friend who would protect me from this world!" she exclaimed. Tears streamed down her red face and she fell onto her knees when he released her.
"Forgive me. I thought you were planning to use me as a sacrifice or something along those lines..." Akihiro apologized. He squatted down in front of Annju and looked her in the eyes, "I'll be your guardian. But there is something I want in return from you." he continued.
She sniffled, wiping away her tears, "W-what do you need from me?" she asked curiously.
He gently smiled and stood up. Akihiro reached out his hand to Annju and stated, "Always stay by my side."
Her eyes shined brightly and threw herself at him, knocking him onto the ground. "You stay by my side too!" she said happily.
'Why am I doing this?' Akihiro thought. 'Is it pity?' he wondered... Or maybe, it's because she reminds him of himself.
It seemed like this girl was thrown away by the world just like him. Looking at her body, he noticed many cuts, bruises, and plenty of scars, just like himself.
Finally, after a very long hug, she let go of Akihiro. Then, they both stood up and began to walk towards the tower. She pulled her hood back over her face, shrouding it in shadow.
The Door to the tower was a massive metal gate that had no openings. But Annju didn't seem to see it that way. She walked up to the gate and placed her hand on the center of it. The Gate made a low rumbling sound and faded out of sight.
Akihiro was astonished, he had no idea what Annju had just done. He simply assumed it was this 'Magic' thing she had.
Annju looked back at him, "Are you coming?" she asked.
"Yes..." he replied while looking around. "Why are we here? Rather what is this place?" Akihiro asked.
She kept walking forwards and Akihiro followed. "We're going to see a powerful Warlock who can evaluate you." she replied.
"Evaluate me? Why?" Akihiro asked.
She stopped walking and put her finger on her lip, thinking for a brief second. "It's how you become an adventurer. Meaning, you can go on quests and get cool stuff!" she explained with a bright smile.
"I see..." Akihiro responded blankly. They finally reached a room after going up many flights of stairs. Annju walked up to it and gently knocked on the door.
It opened without warning with a loud creak, revealing a library. Shelf's of books were around every corner, "Hello. How can I help you today Annju?" an old voice said. Looking at where the voice came from, revealed an old man with a black beard that reached the floor. The Old Man had a monocle resting on his left eye and an eye patch on the other.
Annju smiled and began to explain. "Hmm, I see. So you'd like me to evaluate him?" the old voice said. "Very well, let's start then." he said, walking over to Akihiro.
