Chapter 5

Alfred didn't take more than fifteen minutes to reach them. During that time Eiriwin stayed completely quiet as he perched on the desk. Heather respected the silence as she quietly observed the small dragon. There were a lot of questions she wanted to ask and took the silence as a chance to organize which ones were most important to her.

Alfred was a older man with short salt and paper hair, soft brown eyes and a light smile. His face was covered in wrinkles which Heather presumed indicated how often he smiled. He had was wearing black dress shirt and jeans with black shoes. He had brought a blanket and bag with him and had come from an entrance located in the backroom that Heather hadn't even taken notice of before.

"Sorry for the delay, Sir. Today seems to be turning into quiet an eventful one." Alfred apologized; his voice came out softer than she had expected it to.

"Eventful is not the word that I would choose to use, Alfred. Get me out of here before there's a reason for someone else to come in. We will be taking her with this." Eirwin told the other man as he turned his head as a way to point to Heather.

"Oh, I do apologize, I didn't even take notice of the fact that you were in the room with us." Alfred apologized as he went over to the desk to start folding and collecting the clothes that were there.

"Alfred Winsor at your service. I would presume that you're the reason for the current change of events?" He asked, looking up at Heather as he put the clothes in the bag.

"It was an accident. I hadn't even meant to bump the glass of water." She replied suddenly feeling guilty as she realized she had been too shocked to think about offering Eirwin an apology for what had happened.

"It is quite alright, miss. Accidents happen and you didn't know that this type of predicament would be the result." Alfred replied as he unfolded the blanket and set it on the floor. Eirwin seemed to be used to this as he dropped down of the desk, fluttering his wings lightly so that he wouldn't thump on the floor.

"Right now, it is important to leave and everything else can be handled. This is only a temporary predicament." He assured her as he carefully wrapped up Eirwin and placed him in the bag on top of the clothes.

If it wasn't for the fact that he was so used to this happening time and again, Eirwin would've felt humiliated over the current situation. Overs the years however it happened so often that it became a troublesome burden that he had gotten used to having. There was nothing he could do it about it at the current moment thus he just had to endure it and hoped no one else saw him before he got back home.

Alfred zipped up the bag almost all the way before putting it over his shoulder. He looked back Heather before heading back towards the entrance he had come through.

"If you would be so kind as to follow us, miss, we can catch up on anything during the drive back." He told her before leaving the room. Heather only paused for a second before following after them. This all felt like a rather exciting opportunity that was too good to be true and she didn't want to risk letting it slip away before she found out more about what was going on, who exactly Eirwin was, and why he was stuck in such an estate.

Alfred held open the door for Heather come out after him. They exited in what looked to be a back ally of the building where a small dark blue car was waiting. Heather didn't know much about cars but she was aware that it had been one of the more recently released models which meant that it most likely had auto drive attached to it. Eirwin must've been quite rich to afford such a thing. Alfred unlocked the vehicle and set the bag in the backseat and motioned for Heather to get in as well so that he could close the door.

She was carefully as she stepped inside as she didn't want to jostle or bump the bag that held the small dragon who was remaining very quiet despite how dark it was inside. He must've known that it wasn't safe yet for him to pop his head out even though Alfred had zipped the bag enough so that he could.

"It won't be long before we reach where Sir leaves. I recommend miss that you buckle and get settled. He wouldn't have much to say until we get back and everything is sorted out." Alfred told her as he got into the driver's side and started the vehicle up.

Heather noticed that even though he had put in autopilot he still kept his hands on the steering wheel without moving them. He didn't quite trust how safe it was due to it being new.

"You will be in for quite a treat miss. It isn't very often that we have guests over. I must warn you though that it might be a bit too chilly for your liking. I doubt you have ever been to the residence of an ice dragon before." Alfred told her, glancing back at her in the rearview mirror as he spoke.

"No. I would imagine that it would as cold as his work office is?" Heather replied.

"Indeed, but even more so. don't worry though, there are some jackets right inside the door that you can pick to put on. We keep them there for an guests who aren't used the climate." Alfred assured her. Heather was already making a mental note to herself that if she was going to be working for this dragon that she might want to invest in a warmer wardrobe depending on how much her pay was.
