Chapter 58: Rebecca's Confession

"To facilitate communication among players, the system has recently undergone an update, introducing a market trading platform. This platform is essentially a safe trading zone where weapons and magic are prohibited. Here, players can only engage in conversation, rest, or set up stalls to sell their equipment and items. Furthermore, a paging system has been activated. If added as friends, players can engage in private conversations across different realms. I've heard that a teaming system is also in the works, although its launch date is yet to be determined."

A safe zone? Adding friends? Forming teams? This is becoming more and more like an online game. But what does 'I've heard' mean? It's almost as if you're not the system itself. Zhang Fan looked at Cai Cai with a bewildered expression. There seemed to be too many loopholes in this update.

"What are you staring at? That's all I have to say!" Cai Cai's cheeks flushed as she rolled her eyes at Zhang Fan before disappearing in a flash. Was she being tsundere again? Zhang Fan shook his head but then noticed Jill and Zhi Dai looking completely flabbergasted. What happened? Were they shocked to see Cai Cai?

"What's wrong with you two?" Zhang Fan asked the girls amusingly.

"Senior, are you talking to the air?" Zhi Dai's mouth twitched as she looked at Zhang Fan, who was conversing with thin air, alternating between suppressed laughter and a stunned expression. She almost wanted to call an ambulance for him.

"Talking to the air?" Could it be that Zhi Dai and Jill, as players, couldn't see Cai Cai either?

"Yes, you were just talking to the air," Jill confirmed, her expression suggesting she thought Zhang Fan might be feverish.

"Well, actually, I was just contacting the system. I heard there's been an update. The friend and paging systems have been activated, and a safe zone has been established. From now on, we can meet each other in the game," Zhang Fan explained with a shrug, deciding to talk about Cai Cai another time. But indeed, the friend system and safe zone sounded quite promising.

"Really? That's wonderful!" Zhi Dai clapped her hands in excitement, and although Jill didn't speak, her face was clearly lit up with joy.

Thus, Zhang Fan, Jill, and Zhi Dai added each other as friends. This would certainly make things more convenient in the future.

After having a meal at Jill's house, Zhang Fan returned to his dormitory at the police station. To his surprise, he found Rebecca sitting in front of his bed, apparently waiting for him.

"Rebecca?" Was she here to see him about something?

"Senior Zhang Fan, you're back..." Seeing Zhang Fan enter the room, Rebecca quickly stood up.

"Yes, I just went out to take care of some matters. Is there something you need, Rebecca?" It was already past noon, and Rebecca seemed to have been waiting in his dormitory for quite some time.

"Yes, Senior Zhang Fan, there are things that I must tell you no matter what," Rebecca said, her cheeks flushing. She hesitated at first, but then gathered all her courage, looked up at Zhang Fan with a firm expression.

"Rebecca..." Zhang Fan understood what she was about to say. Although he was somewhat emotionally obtuse, he was not blind to Rebecca's feelings. Indeed, he had a fondness for this lively and cheerful girl who constantly stirred his heart. However, he already had Little Tear and Little Tong in his life. Could he really accept Rebecca as well?

As a self-proclaimed otaku, Zhang Fan had his own dream of creating a harmonious harem, gathering all his beloved characters from the two-dimensional world. But that was merely a fantasy. When faced with the reality of his dream, could he truly fulfill his harem dream?

"Senior Zhang Fan, I like you.

I truly, deeply like you!" Contrasting sharply with Zhang Fan's hesitation, Rebecca boldly threw herself into his arms, pouring out her heart in what was her very first confession.

Rebecca's declaration of love filled Zhang Fan's heart to the brim. He realized he genuinely harbored affection for the girl before him. Nobody could take her away from him – not Rebecca, not Little Tear, not Little Tong. He was determined to build his harmonious crystal palace, no matter what it took.

"Rebecca, I like you too," he said, resolving not to avoid his feelings any longer. He tenderly stroked her hair, his voice soft yet full of conviction.

"Really?" Rebecca looked up, her face brimming with surprise and joy. She had feared he might not reciprocate her feelings, fearing her love was unrequited. But now, fortune seemed to favor her, and everything happened so swiftly that she wondered if it was all just a dream.

"Yes, Rebecca, I do like you. But there are things you need to understand beforehand, about my identity and secrets. Once you know everything, you'll need to make a choice," Zhang Fan said seriously, holding her shoulders. He believed in building his harmonious crystal palace on honesty, not deceit, and Rebecca deserved to know the truth.

Sitting together on his bed, Zhang Fan slowly revealed the basics of the Godly Game, even including the existence of Little Tear and Little Tong. He laid bare the truths he had been guarding.

"How can this be..." Rebecca seemed profoundly impacted upon learning the truth. Naturally, anyone would struggle to accept that their beloved already had other romantic connections, let alone more than one. 

"So, Rebecca, my mission here is completed. I'll soon leave this world. If you truly choose to be with me, your only option is to sign a contract with me and leave together. But think carefully – being by my side might mean endless battles and bloodshed," Zhang Fan warned, deciding to press her for a decision. He was ready to take her away forcefully if she chose otherwise. He had made up his mind.

"Senior Zhang Fan, I just want to know – have Little Tear and Little Tong signed contracts with you?" Rebecca suddenly asked, looking intently at Zhang Fan.

"They haven't yet, Rebecca, you...?" Zhang Fan was surprised. Why was she asking about this now?

"I understand. Then, Senior Zhang Fan, let's sign the contract!" Hearing Zhang Fan's response, Rebecca didn't hesitate to choose to sign the contract with him.

"Really? Are you sure, Rebecca?"
