Several days later, I’m leaning against the wall of my room as I sit on the ledge, looking out at the ocean. It’s dark, but it’s calming. I can see the sharp rocks below from the light coming from Valrose, but it’s pure black a few feet out. It’s an odd sense of safety that I’m grateful for right now.
