Chapter Thirty-Nine

When I get to the Linru Temple, I’m very aware of how much pain my arm is in. I don’t think I can do that five more times. Combined with power drains, and an exact alert when someone alters or even touches his ward, which will likely bring Greyson to me, he’s likely going to slam on the right bite spot at one point. That, or successfully trick my mind into telling him.

I land in the temple, next to Kaelish’s statue, panting and exhausted. She immediately races over to me as I fall to my knees. “Are you okay?” She demands, trying very hard not to touch me. It’s not like she could if she did. Her restraint is more out of both of our comfort. Her touch is a very uncomfortable feeling for both parties.

I nod, “Just trying to catch my breath. That was harder than anticipated.”

“Kia!” Kaelish calls. “You’re bleeding Senja.”

I give her a measured look. “Why are you so worried?”

“Because you’re my Chosen, Senja. If you fail, I fail.”
