BREAKING THE NEWS TO EVERYONE (3)

CHAPTER 126

Living room ~~~~~

After dinner everyone went to the living room for desserts and drinks. The desserts and drinks were served to everyone.

"You can now tell us why you called us here, right?" Mark spoke up first.

"Yes tell us! We are dying to know what would make you of all people invite us to your house for dinner" Michael said chuckling. Charlie rearly invites them  to his house. They are the ones that usually comes to his house to visit him which was why they were really curious about the reason he invited them to dinner.

Charlie cleared his throat and said "Yes I will. I am happy to inform you all here that I am becoming a father...."

Everyone "..."

The whole living room was quite with only the sound from the wall clock can be heard. The news was very shocking that it made everyone speechless!.

"What did they just hear Charlie say!"

"A father!"

"That is new!"

Everyone was blown away by the news.

"Do you mean you are going to be a father... Wait that makes me a grandfather!" Mark said excitedly, he could not hold in the happiness and joy in his heart. Everyone looked at Eve expectantly to confirm the good news.

"Yes... I am 2 weeks pregnant" Eve said smiling.

"Have you confirmed from the hospital?" Mark asked.

"Yes... I did that yesterday" Eve said.

"Then why didn't you tell me yesterday?" Mark asked Charlie frowning his face.

"It was already late when Eve told me" Charlie told his father.

"Eve even decorated the house just to tell Mr Charles the good news" Sue said.

"Really?😲" Everyone, except Eve, Charlie, Sue and Nars were shocked about the news.

"Yes" Sue said.

"Well I don't care about that, all I care about now is I am a grandfather, I have a grandchild! Eve thank you for making me a grandfather" Mark said excitedly.

"What of me? I am the one that made her pregnant!" Charlie protested.

"Thank you son! Now you have proved to me that you are indeed my son" mark said non - chalantly and faced Eve again petting her.

He even promised to transfer some of his shares in the company to Eve as a gift but Eve politely refused the gift.

"There won't be any need dad because I already have my company that I am managing" Eve said.

"Okay if you say so I won't force you" mark said.

Charlie watched his father talk to his wife and didn't even pay attention to him, it was as if he was literally not there! Really!.

Charlie's friends with Sue and Nars were watching the show and could not help but laugh at the way Charlie's father is ignoring him and also Charlie's face. He is frowning and is angry at his father for ignoring him.

"So, Eve are you going to resume work now that you are pregnant?" Sue asked.

"No!" Before Eve could even answer Sue's question, Charlie and his father shouted at the same time.

"Oh..." Everyone erupted in laughter because of the same way of thinking between father and son.

"You both are very similar! You are both thinking the same thing!" Victor said still laughing.

"She would be stressed out if she works and if that happens, it won't be good for the baby" Charlie said.

"Yes... Yes... You are right son" Mark said nodding his head in agreement to what his son said.

"So who will be in charge of the company?" Nars asked.

"I will"  Charlie said.

"Then who will be in charge of your own company?" Michael asked.

"My father will... Dad can you take care of the company?" Charlie said turning his head to face his father obviously teasing his father.

"Of course! What do you take me for! I am old does not mean I am not strong! My body and brain are still functioning great!" Mark shouted.

"That settles it. Any questions?" Charlie asked. He folds his arms and rested his back on the chair. Eve raised her hand.

"What would I be doing if I am not going to work?" Eve asked.

"You my dear little bunny, is just going to stay at home and rest" Charlie said.

"But that will be boring!" Eve protested.

"Hey! Now be a good little bunny and stay at home, it is safer and if you are bored, you can watch TV or even shop online, you have enough money to do that" Charlie said.

Everyone "..."

"Little bunny?" Nars asked surprised.

"Yes, that is my nickname name for her" Charlie said.

"Why little bunny of all nicknames?" Victor asked.

"Because she is cute" Charlie said.

Everyone "..."

"You are really lovestruck dude" Victor said.

"Yes and I love it like that " Charlie said.

Everyone"..."

"You are the same person that once said you just want to enjoy life, isn't it?" Michael asked.

"People and times change. That was in the past, we are in the present. Is anything wrong with that?" Charlie said.

Everyone"..." They might not have noticed the change in Charlie earlier but looking at the way Charlie is speaking now, they now realized how Charlie has changed and could not believe Charlie's mindset would change.

"No, nothing is wrong, we are just surprised, that is all" Victor said.

"But it is very good, it is good that you meet Eve, if not I wonder what would have happened" Michael said.

"Enough with all these talk of the past and present and let us enjoy ourselves because today is a happy day" Mark said stopping the gloomy talk. 

The atmosphere was back to be a joyous atmosphere and everyone went back to eating their desserts and drinking.

After the dinner, Eve and Charlie retired to their bedroom.

"What was Victor and Michael talking about at the dinner" Eve asked Charlie as he joined her and sat down on the bed.

Charlie chuckled and said "Well... Before I met you, I was the type that just does not want to get married but when I met you, everything changed" Charlie said.

"Oh... But why would you not want to get married?" Eve was curious about Charlie's reason for deciding not to get married.

"You see... My mom died and I watched my father grieve over her death. He was beyond devastated because of her death and even tried to commit suicide but I was able to save him in time before the effect of the drug's he took could do any harm to him.

And when he was in the hospital recuperating, I was in his ward on evening looking at him on the bed and decided then that I wouldn't get married"
