Chapter twenty nine

(Matthew's POV)

I could have walked in through the back but I didn't want to seem unapologetic and so I stepped down from any imaginary high horse they think I'm on.

I walk through the crowd, throwing a smile to those who bothered to greet me.

I matched up the stairs that led up to the raised floor.

Roman is already there, waiting for me and smiles when I catch his eye.

I smile back and nod my thanks and he nods back. My chest feels a little lighter after spending a few minutes in my mother's embrace but I still have a long way to go before I am free of this painful guilt.

I turn to face my pack and I take in their expressions. They all look anticipative and curious to know what I have to say.

Hopefully I haven't lost all their respect.

"Good morning." I start to say and my voice is loud enough to feel the hall because of the anticipative silence.
