Chapter thirty three

(Matthew's POV)

It's been a whole day since I saw Cassandra and my worry hasn't subsided, quite the contrary.

I couldn't sleep at all last night as I had been too busy tossing, turning and sometimes pacing in constant worry.

The conversation I had with my mother when I had returned from her school flashes through my mind and I groan at my own forgetfulness.

*Flashback*

"So how did it go?" She asked just as I stepped past the last row of trees before the pack land came into view.

Seems she had been waiting for me.

"She didn't really welcome me with open arms," I said with light sarcasm but my heart was still hurting.

Mom scoffed. "Well, that was expected. If she had forgiven you so easily, I would have been suspicious."

I rolled my eyes, not in the mood to deal with her cheekiness. I missed her but I needed to keep myself busy with pack duties that were likely to be waiting for me on my desk.

I fastened my steps and I heard her release a snort behind me.
