Rejected

She wandered lonely like a cloud in the quite boulevard. Her thoughts were scattered, her dreams were ruined, she was hopeless. That's not her dream.

Alynah's dream is to study and become a computer programmer, get married to the man she love and have kids with him but now, just a single night ruined her life, her dreams and all that she wished for.

She was tired of crying so, she wandered to nowhere in particular. She sobbed and placed her palm on her tummy. She's pregnant, she's carrying a life inside her, her child. She needed to be strong, she knew. But she can't, the thought alone made her sick.

She sat on the wooden chair at the pedestrians path. Her phone vibrated indicating a call. She checked the caller ID to see that it was Lyra. She sighed and picked the call.

"Alynah? Where are you?" Lyra's voice rang into her ears.

"I just left the hospital" Alynah's voice was low.

"Are you okay? You sound down?" Lyra asked.

"I'm okay" was Alynah's short reply.

"And...the result?" Lyra asked.

Alynah went shut for a while.

"Hello?" Lyra called again.

"Positive" Alynah replied in a whisper. Lyra subconsciously gasped.

"Oh my God" She exclaimed.

"What...what are you gonna do?" Lyra asked, stuttering.

"I'm going home" Alynah replied.

"No I mean, about the baby..."

"I'm going home, Lyra" Alynah repeated and ended the call. She's really not in the mood of talking too much.

Grayling's Mansion

Alynah lazily pushed the door and entered. She was welcomed with her family's cheerful smiles and laughters.

"Come here, sweetie" Mrs Grayling gestured and Alynah took steady steps closer.

Her 12 year old sister, Presley jumped to her side.

"Guess what sis, we're relocating to Italy!" Presley squealed excitedly. Alynah froze.

"Why all of a sudden?" She asked.

"You know I've been expanding my business globally, right?" Mr Grayling asked.

Alynah nodded and sat on the couch, facing her parents.

"And I got presented with very golden opportunity there. I'm going to establish our European headquarters in Tuscany. " Mr Grayling added.

"Wow" Alynah forced out a smile.

"Congratulations dad" she added.

"Can you imagine us in the heart of Italy? Cool arts, history and landscape!" Presley exclaimed, dreamily.

"It will be great" Alynah stated.

"You look off, darling" Mrs Grayling pointed out

"I'm sorry mum, but I can't come with you guys" Alynah stated, lowering her head.

Both her mum and dad exchanged glances then back at her.

"What do you mean you can't?" Mrs Grayling asked.

Alynah was silent for a while, then answered.

"We're done with college. And I have a dream to continue my studies and become a computer programmer" well, that's not entirely true, she was trying to get away from her family so that she'll keep her child. She's scared of being rejected by her family.

"But you can also pursue your dream in Italy" her father chipped in.

"Yes but, I want to be here. I'll join you when I'm done with my University. Don't worry, I'll be fine. I have Lyra and Valerie" Alynah tried to convince her father.

Mr and Mrs Grayling exchanged looks one more time and then turned to her.

"Pumpkin, are you sure about this?" Mrs Grayling asked.

"Yes Mom" Alynah answered.

"Then, you have our support" Mr Grayling said and Alynah smiled genuinely.

Suddenly, she felt a strong urge, a very strong urge to throw up. Alynah covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom.

Mr and Mrs Grayling exchanged glances. They both had a shocked expression as they understood what's going on. Presley was also confused.

"Alynah?!" Mrs Grayling rushed after her.

She met Alynah sobbing in front of the bathroom.

"What's going on, Alynah?!" Mrs Grayling snapped, her gaze was firm. Alynah kept shut, only sobbing softly.

"Tell me, when did this happened?" Her mother added.

"I'm sorry mum, I don't know... I swear it" Alynah cried.

"Alynah, you're pregnant?" Mrs Grayling asked, disappointment was clear in her voice.

"How could you? You brought shame to the family, Alynah! How can you be so reckless?" Mrs Grayling continued.

Alynah fell on the floor, crying.

"That's not what I think you are Alynah" her father joined.

"The prominent Mr Grayling's daughter shouldn't bring disgrace and shame to the family" he added.

Alynah only cried, she can't defend herself. She can't make them understand. They're disappointed in her. There's nothing she could say to convince them.

"Who's the father?" Mrs Grayling asked.

Alynah shook her head, crying. "I... don't... know"

"You don't know?"

"Mother please" Alynah pleaded.

"Goodness Alynah! You got pregnant for someone you don't know and you want me to hear you out? You're such a disgrace Alynah!" Mrs Grayling yelled and left.

Mr Grayling stepped forward.

"Nevermind following us to Italy. You're not my daughter anymore" saying that, he left.

"No dad, please mom!" She yelled as she cried her eyes out.

What she'd been scared of just happened. She's rejected by her family.
