Alex pulled the car over by the side of the road where they had seen the mutt before turning to keenly observe Vanessa as he awaited her response. The hesitant look on her face and the undulating flutters of her eyes as she struggled to push out the words in her mouth were all he needed to deduce an answer for himself.
She was indeed asking him to take in the dog, wasn't she?
He watched as she protectively wrapped her hands around the dog like she hadn't just picked it up from the road side an hour ago. Alex took a quick look at his wristwatch. It has indeed been an hour since they both left the office, and were now catering for a dog which he believed had an owner who was probably in search of it.
"So?" He raised a quizzical brow at Vanessa, who for the first time was awkwardly being hesitant in giving an answer. She was always quick to retort or bite back at him, so what happened now?
