Chapter Twenty Six: Losing The Games

Layla's Point Of View

As soon as I had the dream, it affected me. I stood up from the bed, and my maids whispered closely behind me.

"Its time to wash ma'am". I stood and faced the wall as the water ran down my body.

Why did I have such a dream? What's going on? I questioned the cause of the dream, but nothing seems to be coming forth in any way. Then I remembered I was here for a particular purpose, which was to win the competition.

But my focus has now deviated towards irrelevant dreams:

"What do we have to do?" I asked the maid who was bathing me as she looked at me, and I could feel her stare, surging right through my skin

"It's a cooking competition, and it's essential that every lady of the palace knows how to cook. If she would be able to serve her king good meals," she said to me as we made our way out of the washroom and settled on what I would be wearing.

I went out of the room after I had put on something comforting, I needed to get my mind off the dream, which made no sense to me. If it were to make any sense, then that means that the alpha might eventually become mine; anyone could see the bright smile on my face as I made my way to the large room we were given to make ourselves comfortable.

I sat down and looked to my maid and said,"

"I am farmished, please get me something to eat" I looked away from her to watch who just walked right into the room—one of the maidens Sarah, who seems to take a liking to me.

Her maid must have revealed to her that I was right here in the large room. I only wanted some peace for myself.

"Hello Layla, it's so nice to see you again. Oh, I heard about your horrible nightmare.".

She said, which sounded more mockingly,

"Hi, its so nice to see you also, and yeah, it was such a horrible dream. Do you care to listen to me because I would love to get it off my mind?" I said to her as she sat down.

"I want you to know you can talk to me anytime and about anything you feel you want to talk about," she said as she smiled at me, and I sat facing her also.

"In this dream of mine, I saw that I was walking in the woods with you, more like we were running around. Then suddenly the alpha appeared, but then he disappeared, and a beast appeared. I tried calling the alpha to our aid, but."

I said sadly, as she looked horrified at me,

"But what happened?" She asked, knowing fully well that it was not going to end well,

"And when I came back, you were gone and nowhere to be found.".

I said, pretending to cry, and I hugged her. "I tried to calm the alpha as I was terrified, myself in the dream." I said, hugging her," but that can't happen.

"Never, I do not believe that was the dream you had. I refuse to believe.".

She said this as she stood up and went away, leaving me in peace. I knew tonight's game wasn't my kind of thing, as I was definitely bound to lose to someone who knows how to cook. When it was time, I prepared and went down to where it would take place.

After several hours, it ended with Jackia being the winner again. I thought she never wanted to be in the game, so why is she trying so hard to win then? It pissed me off as I make my way back to my room.

I couldn't get enough sleep throughout the night as I felt like the games were slipping off my hands, and if something is not done fast I might end up losing and all my efforts will become a waste. No, no, I can't allow that. This was the last thing on my mind before I went to sleep in the early hours of the morning.

The following morning was peaceful and calm, but my wolf wasn't calm, as she wanted me to find a way to get rid of Jackia as soon as possible. But how can I do that when she is always in her room and whenever she's out, no one knows about her whereabouts?

"What if we follow her down to wherever she goes? We could find something to incriminate her, or what do you think?" my wolf indulged me in a conversation that I find meaningful at this point.

"I think that could help, but I do not know of her movement," I said and my maid walked right in. She looked at me like I had gone crazy, looking around the room to see if there was someone else in the room with me.

"I was speaking with my wolf," I said at the same time my wolf said, "Why don't you make use of her? She definitely will be close to Jackia's maid, so ??" She asked me as I smiled at my maid, "Can I ask you for a favour?".

I asked her, looking at her as if she was of importance, which she was to me at this point, that I would need her. "Yes Miss Layla. I am here to serve you," she said as she walked right towards the bed, where I was and sat down.

"Well, I need you to keep tabs on Jackia and her maid and tell me when ever Jackia steps out of this palace, no matter the time or hour of the day; even if I am asleep, I want to know if she steps out or not.".

My maid, who looked lost but at the same time looked like she wasn't pleased with what I just asked of her. But she had no other choice as she was here to serve me and nothing else.

"Yes, Miss Layla, whatever you ask of me," she said as she bowed to me. When that was sorted out I got out of bed and decided to visit my mother. Even though I had no need to, I still felt like if I saw her, I would get the answer to the dream I had the other day.
