The Bloodstained Affair

A struggle to restore peace upon the world, dotted with forbidden romance between a vampire and a human being. This story takes place in futuristic England where human beings, vampires, and werewolves co-existed on earth. Aiden Thompson was just a regular human being who was trying to live his life as quietly as possible without any entanglements with the two superior races. He had long forgotten a night twelve years ago, when he met a vampire and saved his life. Ryan Caldwell, the vampire, vowed to pick him up when he reached the age of eighteen. Meanwhile, his grandmother's sickness led Aiden to the muddy, illegal world of blood transactions, where desperate human beings resorted to selling their precious, young blood for a huge sum of money. And Ryan Caldwell. The vampire had not forgotten his promise, but how come the person he accepted into his family was none other than Alain, Aiden's half-brother instead? To make matters even worse, a new race emerged and threatened the facade of peace among the three races that populated the world. It was by then too late for Aiden to withdraw from the center of the conflicts... -------------------------- "Mr. Caldwell, please don't make me repeat myself," Aiden interjected. "It was my own fault. I... I just want to forget everything. Please stop reminding me of... of what happened last night." Aiden grabbed into his quilt. He pressed his lips together and furrowed his brows in indignation. He did not want to think about it. He did not want to remember it. He wanted time to make him forget, and heal the terrible heartache that plagued him. Ryan heaved a sigh. "Aiden, it was not your fault. We... I..." And yet, the young man did not allow him to explain. "There is no 'we'," Aiden corrected the vampire opposite him. The young man lifted his head and glared at Ryan. "I don't like men. Do you...?" Selling Blood To Mr. Ryan Caldwell

Aiden woke up at 9 AM in the morning. After sleeping for many hours during the night, he felt energized. His tailbone was regretfully still giving him much pain. Aiden forced himself out of bed and went into the shower. At 1 PM he left the house and headed for the train station.

Although Angela had kindly arranged for his seat during the trip to Dominion, Aiden was unable to sit. He gave away his seat for an elderly man who had not been fortunate enough to reserve seats for the trip. The old man thanked Aiden many times before taking the seat.

Standing up, he could almost feel no pain.

Angela was there to pick Aiden up at Dominion's Central Train Station. Her smile faded slightly when she saw the way Aiden limped through the crowd.

"Aiden, did you hurt your legs?" the vampire asked while grabbing Aiden's arm to offer him more support.

"No, I… I fell. It's fine, it will be alright in a few days."

"Oh, thank God."

Aiden averted his eyes and smiled.

It was a blatant lie. The doctor had told him that it would take around a month for his tailbone to heal.

Then again, he could not afford to cancel the first appointment with Ryan Caldwell.

Unless absolutely necessary, he did not want to risk enraging the mighty vampire.

"So… where are we heading?"

"White Chapel. Do you not want to visit your grandmother?"

"Oh. Yes. Of course."

Grandma Thompson was a little angry because her grandson did not call her the previous day. She left him a lot of messages that were only answered come morning. Her anger quickly dissipated when she saw her grandson in person. It was replaced by extreme concern when she saw Aiden limping in her direction.

"Oh my Lord, Aiden! What happened?"

"I fell. It is not serious. Grandma, how are you doing?"

"I am great. Stop switching the conversation topic. Tell me how you got hurt!"

Aiden reluctantly told his grandmother that he fell because two dogs jumped at him. Grandma Thompson was enraged to hear that her grandson came all the way to Dominion despite being hurt.

"Aiden, why did you not just rest at home???"

Aiden grabbed his grandmother's hands and flashed her a smile.

"Did I not promise to come to visit Grandma every weekend?"

Grandma Thompson sighed.

"Yes, but it is winter break anyway. You can come any day."

"I can rest in Grandma's guest room too," Aiden said with a chuckle.

Grandma Thompson was silent for a while, and then she got a bright idea.

"Aiden, why don't you get some treatment for the tailbone in White Chapel while you are here? It is not going to cost as much as leukemia. It will spare you a lot of unease!"

"Alright. Then I will go now, ok? Grandma, go to sleep after dinner, no need to wait for me."

"Okay…"

Aiden went out of the VIP suite and texted Angela.

"I am ready."

The answer came after a minute.

"Wait there, I am coming to pick you up."

Angela took Aiden to Ryan's office, and then she went out and shut the door behind her. Inside the office, Ryan was already waiting for him. The vampire stood by the large window with the curtains pulled aside, gazing at the wonderful night view of Dominion. Although he was looking straight out of the window, he did not look at the colorful tiny lights underneath. He was gazing at the dark sky instead. For some reason, he had a melancholic expression on his face.

Ryan turned his head toward Aiden when the latter entered his office.

"You are here," he remarked.

"Nice to meet you again, Mr. Caldwell."

Ryan extended his hand toward Aiden.

"Come here."

Aiden's two feet moved toward Ryan automatically. The former swallowed hard. By then, he was pretty sure that the vampires were able to control human beings by mere speech.

Ryan narrowed his eyes at Aiden, and then he turned Aiden to the side and stared at his backside area.

"Did you injure yourself?"

"Yes, I hurt my back slightly. If possible, please do it while we are standing."

The vampire chuckled. He raised his hand and let his cold fingers brush against Aiden's neck, giving him goosebumps.

"I can't do it while sitting," Aiden reasoned. "It is too painful."

"No worries," the vampire said in a placating tone.

Ryan put his left arm around Aiden's waist, and his other hand tilted Aiden's head to the side to reveal the smooth, fair neck. Aiden's back was pressed against a broad and firm chest. An oppressive and dominant smell of male pheromones invaded Aiden's nose and made his heart pound faster.
