Chapter 30: Bite of Venom

"I, Saffron, the one who solemnly witnessed the creations of creatures who aren't supposed to be born in this world. I wrote this to let those who may possess my book and want to learn the curse behind it."

"What curse? What is this book all about?" I asked, confused.

Onix sighed.

"The Saffron who wrote the book was a human who was given the ability to live longer just like her forefather, Isaac. He witnessed the three races that shouldn't be created along with his kind, the human," he replied.

'As I walked down to a deserted desert with my cows to send them to the grassland in a far part of Canaan, I saw three ladies that dwell in one of my neighbor's cattle who were eating soundly at the abundance of grass. As I was getting nearer, I saw that the three ladies were eating my neighbor's daughter. And when I closely looked at them, the three ladies weren't humans at all. One has the face of a wolf, the other has sharp fangs, and the last one has a human face but hides with some animal's head. Although I was scared, a voice in my head told me to walk closer, and I did. Upon watching them closer without them noticing me, I realized that they weren't humans and mimicked the human body and that they were the rumored human eater that came from hell.'

"Listen, Saffron, daughter of Isaac, write the things you saw. Warn them about the existence of this human-eater beast. Write it in a language that they cannot read."

I heard that voice commanding me, and I was clueless about where it came from. As if my body has its mind. I hurriedly went home and started to write about these creatures I saw. I spend my day following the trail of the three, where they came from. The animals look like humans when the sun is up, but when night falls, they become the beasts that everyone feared. I started to dig deep into them and who those beasts were. And I found out about who they are. One is Jezebel, the once queen of Israel; Athaliah, the queen of Judah and Herodias, the queen of Galilee. These former queens ruled the countries with all the wickedness they knew. The people punished them as payment for what they had done during their reign. But what bothers me is, how did they come back into life and people didn't recognize them until now? So I planned on exposing them. I need to dig deeper into their secrets and where they are living. I follow their trail. And I found out their primary habitat. It was located in Khirbet Qeiyafa, where King David's palace was built. It had been long abandoned when King Solomon inherited the throne. As I made my way there with my faithful dog, we witnessed countless people walking towards that palace as if they were hypnotized.'

"Hurry! Follow them!" the voice said.

I took off my cloak and started to join the countless people that entered the castle. And made my way separated from them as I entered an alley that wasn't familiar to me. I never thought I would find the room in the castle's heart were the three sleep. I quietly walked my way into where they were sleeping. I was a fan of history, and I know these were ones belonging to those evil queens. As I observed them, my eyes roamed, and I saw the most disturbing thing I thought never existed. I immediately got my hands on them, and I put them inside my bag. These are the missing parts of the book of Enoch. And the part that was believed to be destroyed after the flooding of the earth. What is this thing doing here?

I was about to leave when I heard someone approaching the room. I hid from one of the shelves and dared not to make any sounds.

"My queens," I heard the man hiding his face from his hooded cloak call the three sleeping ladies. "It's time for you to wake up and eat."

The three suddenly woke up and looked at him.

"I've been smelling something inside this room," one of the three said to him.

"Do you believe that someone sneaked in here, my queen?" the man asked. "They are hypnotized, and they are all waiting outside for you to turn them like you."

"Enough with chit-chats. Lead us to them," the second one I saw eating my neighbor's daughter's arm said.

The three rose and walked towards the door.

I took a deep breath and…

Suddenly we heard a loud crash outside that small room.

"What is that?" I asked, and Onix was also startled. As for werewolves, our keen sense of hearing helps us to hear more efficiently than humans.

"Ssshhh," Onix shushed me as he quickly went to the door.

I stopped reading the book when I heard the noise outside.

"This house is empty," we heard someone was outside said. "Why do we need to come here if madam already had that human possessed," replied another voice.

"She's not sure if she collected everything in here; that's why she wanted us to come and check every nook of this house," he said by a low tone.

If those bastards accidentally pulled that small book on the shelves, it would automatically move and expose us. We don't have any choice but to fight if this happens.

"Have you seen the cars outside? Did it belong to the human girl?"

"No idea. Quit talking, and let's begin to find."

We heard the constant moving of chairs and noises coming from all over the house. Onix switched on the TV connected to the hidden cameras installed all over the place. I wasn't aware of this. The two men I saw in Rebel's palace flashed on the screen monitor.

"As I thought," Onix murmured.

"Thought of what?" I can't help but wonder.

What are they doing here? What ARE THEY DOING IN HERE?

"That the palace isn't what we think," he said.

I was confused by what he said.

"Someone is manipulating everyone in the palace," he replied.

I was confused by what he said, but I didn't ask further. We both focused on watching the two as they searched Stacey's entire house. When they didn't find anything anymore, they decided to leave without any words.

"Bring that book with you," Onix told me as he seated himself, frustrated. "It will be safe if you're the one who keeps it," he added.

I nodded to him. I put the two books in a plastic bag I saw.

"Don't marry the King," he said a minute later.

I was stunned by him again.
