The sound of the gunfire carries across the African bush, and Moses standing in the entrance of the mine flinches at the sound as it echoes across the mine dumps. He stands and waits, unable to tell how far away the sounds came from, and then it falls silent, the only sound that comes to his ears is the swirling river below and the excited chatter of a troop of baboons patrolling the area on the lookout for food.
