The Survivors on Top Floor (I)...

Daichi was only able to get two more fire trucks, the fifth fire truck was kind of broken and Daichi didn't have a mechanic on hand who could fix the truck. Anthony and his group could drive, but that did not mean that they could fix it. So, Daichi had to leave the truck, he could have tried to tow it, but towing is a recipe for disaster, especially when inexperienced people are trying to tow something massive like a fire truck.

So, after filling the new trucks with gas, they finally decided to leave the gas station. Daichi was feeling kind of bad for leaving behind quite a bit of gas, but he vowed that he would return to reclaim the rest of the fuel. He just needed to get his hands on some oil tankers or water tankers. Daichi simply hoped that he took away enough gas from the gas station to stop another Mana Stone from forming. After he had finished absorbing Mana from the Mana Stone, the Stone dimmed a bit more.

Daichi had no idea how long the Mana Stone was going to last, but he hoped that his mother could increase her reserve to her fullest before it lost its power. So, without wasting any more time, Daichi told Yuriko to head toward the shopping complex. Anthony, Candice, Dylan, and Matthew were the ones who were driving the fire trucks while Joyce was driving the minivan…

It was almost afternoon, so everyone was feeling quite hungry, but Daichi decided not to take a break before they could arrive at the shopping complex. When he went to get the fire trucks with Yuriko, he lost one of the wolves, there is no way that Daichi was going to make the same mistake twice. That is why he wasn't planning to leave the fire trucks unguarded. At the same time, he wasn't planning to spend any more time than necessary at the shopping complex.

After getting the food, he was planning to leave the food as soon as possible… They could have lunch after returning to their temporary base. That would be for the best as Daichi did not want to get ambushed while having a meal at the shopping complex. Yes, he was strong and he did have a lot of strong allies, but that did not mean that he should welcome danger. Additionally, Daichi knew how to pick your battles.

"So, tomorrow we will be looking for a new base, right?" All of a sudden Saeko questioned, breaking Daichi out of his internal musings.

"Yes, our current base is not big enough for all of us. As time goes on, our numbers will keep increasing. People always flock around strong people" Daichi answered with a smirk on his face.

"What about the Government?" Yuriko questioned with a frown on her face. Daichi simply released an amused snort after hearing her question.

"The Government is trying to save their own ass right now. You see, they have a lot of problems at this moment, and one of the major problems is going to be the bureaucracy. Right now, their chain of command is broken, so I am sure that they are running like headless chickens. Then there are some ambitious people, who are high in command, they will try to gain control over some of the soldiers under their command. If they succeed, then factions will be formed within the army…"

"Then, most of the politicians will try to assort as much power as they could, while only a handful few will try to help others, but sooner or later they would implode, which is going to cause another round of problems. If the Government is somehow able to pull its act together, then its first plan of action is going to be containment. Since this shit is happening all over the world, they would soon realize that they could no longer contain this shit. So, after that, they are going to do the only thing they could do… Regroup" Daichi explained with a grin on his face.

"…Hmm… You seem to know a lot about how the Government works. I suppose Youzora-san told you?" Yuriko suggested with a small smile and Daichi started to chuckle as he shook his head in denial.

"Nope… I simply watch too many movies" Daichi answered cheekily and even Saeko couldn't stop herself from giggling after hearing Daichi's answer. Meanwhile, Bella was looking outside the window in complete awe. She was completely ignoring the conversation taking place inside the Humvee, not that Daichi blamed her. Bella didn't know anything about the modern world, so whenever she saw something new, it would catch her attention, which was completely understandable…

~~Meanwhile at the Shopping Complex~~

While Kemono and Kohta were raiding the stores on the ground floor, a group of survivors on the 3rd floor was engaged in a heavy argument. There were nearly 30 people staying on the 3rd floor, but not all of them were engaged in the argument. Only three people, two male, and a female seemed to be having an argument, meanwhile, the rest of the people were gathered around the three of them as everyone wanted to know the outcome of the argument.

"I am telling you, we should avoid them. We can't ask them for help… Did you not see how that woman killed those two men in cold blood? She even threw one of them down to be torn apart by the Zombies!!" One of the men having the argument snarled, the man's name was Nabe Murata and he was the Leader of one of the factions living inside the shopping complex.

Currently, there were three groups or factions residing in the shopping complex. The first faction, which was led by Nabe Murata was the biggest. This first faction was composed of the people who didn't want to fight, all of these people trusted the Government and they were waiting here to be rescued by the Government. The second faction consisted of people from a nearby IT firm. Unlike the first faction, they did not believe that they were going to be rescued by the Government, but at the same time, they also want to avoid conflicts.

The third faction was the most interesting, it was the smallest faction among the three factions, but they were the most combat-oriented faction among the three. The third faction consisted of delinquents from a nearby school. The third faction was surprisingly led by a high school girl. Until now, the girl had decided to remain passive in the argument as she wanted to see where the argument was going. Personally, she was yet to make a decision as half of her mind of telling her to go down and join them, while the rest of her half was telling her to stay here.

She was having a hard time making a decision because she knew that she could not win against the woman with flames, so if she did join that woman, then she would lose her authority over her people, but at the same time, if she did join them, then her group was going to be safe. Now she just needed to make a decision, if her group was more important than her pride…

"Shut up, old man!! I saw how she kicked down that man to be torn apart by Zombies, but for all we know, they might have been the bad guys" The Leader of the second faction, Zaku Samada, protested. He and his faction wanted to survive the apocalypse by joining the strongest group in the block. It was pretty clear that the woman who slaughtered the Zombies on the ground floor without much difficulty was the strongest, so he wanted to join her.

"How could you even say that, didn't you see how that woman was laughing? How can you even say that she is a good person? We must wait for the Government!" Nabe Murata argued back and Zaku Samada simply scoffed at the man.

"So what if she is evil, as long as she is strong the other stuff doesn't matter! She could easily protect us!!" Once again, Zaku Samada decided to present a stupid argument.

Kanae Tawata, the Leader of the third faction snorted in disgust. 'And why would she do that? She might kill the bunch of you and be done with it…' Kanae wondered in amusement. Zaku Samada seemed to be way too stupid, she wondered how the man was able to survive in the corporate world… Kanae was an orphan, just like the rest of the members of her group. All of them are from the same orphanage.

When they were young, some of them were being bullied by the other kids in the orphanage. When one of those bullies tried to bully Kanae, she beat him up pretty badly. After that, Kanae the big sister of the group, and the rest of the children started to look up to her. The other bullies tried to get back at her, but she beat them too. After a couple of years, the bullies also decided to come under her wing and that is how Kanae turned out to be their group's leader.

"Guys! Another group just arrived!" All of a sudden a boy from the third faction came running and announced the arrival of a second group. Kanae released a sigh as she decided to check out the second group. The argument could go on, but she needed to check if the second group were any threat to them or not. The first group was yet to show any interest in the upper floors, but the second group might turn out to be different…
