The Pearl

"Please, get up. You know better than anyone else that I hate it when elders kneel Infront of me", Mia told Grandpa.

Grandpa got up, "Your Highness, you may regret your decision later."

Mia was silent.

I grabbed her hand, "Mia, what is it that you both are talking about?"

She was avoiding my gaze. I looked at Grandpa, he was trembling in fear. But what is it that they are behaving like that??

Mia looked at me, "Lin, you told me that you can protect me from anything, right?"

I nodded.

She smiled wryly, "Can you please protect this pearl for me?"

I looked at the Pearl and then back to her, "If it's what you want to, of course, so I can. I will protect it with my life. It seems that it is really important to you."

She nodded.

I smiled, "Anything important to you is important to me but how I am supposed to protect it and from whom?"

She hesitated and then spoke," I will enter it into your body and don't need to worry it will be painless."

She was facing difficulty in speaking. I held her hand tightly and looked into her eyes, "Mia, calm down. Even if I will feel pain, still I will help you. "

She looked at me, "I can't tell you why I am asking you for its protection but it is related to my life. This pearl contains part of my spiritual power. Are you ready to keep it in your body?"

I smiled and looked at her, "I am always ready. If it's related to your life then you have chosen the right person."

Mia looked depressed."Lin, please lay down."

I did as she said. She stood next to me. She put her left hand on my heart and the other was holding the Pearl. She started using some magic.

The pain in my back started to disappear. After a while, there was no pain. Mia slowly brought the Pearl closer to my heart. The closer it came the brighter it shined. The Pearl started to dissolve inside me. After a while, the whole pearl entered my body. Strangely I didn't feel any pain with such a large pearl entering my body.

After the Pearl entered my body Mia stepped back and sighed deeply.

"Your Highness, hope you will be fine with your decision", Grandpa said in a sad tone.

Mia's POV

After I returned home I went to bed. The process of transferring the Pearl had cost a great number of my powers. I felt really exhausted and soon fell asleep.

I opened my eyes and found myself in a familiar environment. I got up from the ground and started walking. I was sure that I was inside the stone.

"Aunt, where are you?"

I called her out. I went to the stream where I thought she might be. As expected she was sitting there.

"Aunt, you are here", I happily went close to her but she remained still. She was sitting there on the ground and looking down at the grass.

"Aunt, are you alright?", I worriedly asked her.

She slowly lift her head and looked at me. There were no expressions on her face.

"Come sit with me", she said softly.

I went and sit next to her. She touched my face and smiled.

Aunt looked into my eyes, "You are impulsive. You are naive. You are too kind to survive in the cruelty of this world."

I confusingly asked her, "What do you mean?"

She sighed deeply, "Mia dear, why did you lie? Why did you lie to him about the Pearl?"

I looked away from her eyes, "I just don't know."

Aunt laughed, "You are lying."

I didn't dare to look at her and remained silent. She forced me to face her.

"Aunt, please guide me. I don't know whether I should follow my heart or brain. If I followed my heart I might bring destruction to the Beasts. If I followed my brain I might lose loved ones."

Aunt pointed at the water of the stream, "Mia dear, look at the water of the stream and the marine life in it. I am known as the fairy of hearts and that's why I almost prefer to obey heart but your case is different. Just like the fishes and the water bring harmony between your heart and brain. These fishes can't live without the water and the water won't be lively without them. In the same way, bring your heart and brain together."

"But how can I do that?", I asked her.

She smiled, "It's your task to find out."

I grabbed her hand, "Aunt, please tell me. I don't want to harm anyone because of my wrong decisions."

She grabbed my face with both of her hands, "Oh dear, if you don't try yourself. If you don't strive for the answer how will you learn? Even if you are the Legendary Ruler of the Magical Beasts still you are a little girl who needs to learn to survive cruelties."

I sighed and finally gave up. But there was another thing that was bothering me, "Fine, I won't ask anymore but there is something else that is a real headache for me. The problem is choosing among the two mates. I mean if Lin is the evil one, I will never be able to fight against him. He is the only person I had started to trust a lot. Aunt went into deep thought and after a while, she started staring into my eyes, "This is the situation where you had to use both your heart and brain. The whole night I had been lost in the thoughts of my aunt's words. All of a sudden there was a sharp pain in my heart. I was unable to move or breathe.
