Chapter 54

Cianne felt as if the room, and everything in it, was spinning out of control. Or was it just her life that had spun out of control? She clutched her pillow tightly. In her head was a miasma of problems and her mind reached for solutions. It was just that she had none.

"Cianne," Tranae said softly.

She looked up to face her friend's judgmental gaze again. She had completely forgotten that Tranae was in her room. Her presence was easy to forget because she hadn't said much in the hours, they'd been home, Cianne reasoned.

Cianne lay her face back down on her pillow. A single tear rolled over the bridge of her nose and down her cheek.

*This pillow might need flipping over soon.*

She vacantly stared forward. The squiggly image of her bookcase stood out. On it, books lined the shelves but there were no cutesy knick-knacks. In fact, her room was barely decorated.

*I have nothing to even suggest that I'm a teenager.*

New tears streamed down her face.
