27 | A Traitor's Child

The school bell rang indicating it was already lunchtime. Elyse didn't hesitate to stand up and went outside the classroom to meet Eli outside the room. Eli saw she went outside her classroom and she waves her hand toward Elyse.

She smiled and went to her.

"Is Arrow and Arbor coming?" Eli shakes her head off.

"No, both of them are busy. Maybe because of the issue in the hunting Contest last time." Elyse nodded. Right, both Arrow and Arbor are Artemis's Descendant and the Hunting Contest is actually dedicated to Artemis. There's no question as to why the twins shouldn't be busy right now.

Elyse felt dejected to see the twins having trouble solving the mysterious case.

"Is it my fault?" She couldn't help but ask her. Eli looked at her staring calmly at Elyse.

She smiled and gave her a reassuring smile, "Don't worry. It's not your fault. It's our Ancestor's fault." She told Elyse while she noticed a hint of annoyance in her tone.

'Is she annoyed at me?' Elyse felt more dejected than earlier.

Eli twitched, suddenly feeling regretful about what she just said to Elyse.

"Did I say something wrong? H-hey don't be like that come on. Let's eat, I'm hungry!" She said and pulls Elyse towards her and they both started running in the hallway.

"H-hey wait a minute! —" Eli laughed.

"Isn't the feeling great? Come on, Elyse!" She said while pulling Elyse even more as they both ran in the hallway.

"Hey! No running in the hallway!" A teacher scolded them right in the hallway but Eli ignores the teacher and just giggled.

"You can't stop me, Teacher!" She boldly replied and Elyse blushed — embarrassed because they are running in the hallway while other Student's eyes are pointed at them.

But Elyse couldn't shake the happiness she felt in her heart.

'I wish this could last long.'

"Hey, haven't you heard?"

"What is it?"

"Another student in the 2nd most prestigious Academy is visiting ours."

"Oh! I heard Miss Hildegarde is coming with them."

"My, the troublesome lady is coming here. What to do?"

"Should we just kick her out?"

"Oh! That's a great idea!"

Chad spoke with his squeaky and girly voice copying other female students' voices while everyone sat down in their own seats inside the Student Council office. Raymond sitting in his seat as the President and Luna sitting on the couch with Dain, Kai, and Eli.

Both Arrow and Arbor are sitting on the window sill while Elyse standing behind Raymond.

He's been copying everyone's gossip and conversations for the whole meeting. Everyone only glares at him as if it's not even funny to joke about.

"Chad will you please stop annoying us?" Chad only smiles at them with his usual innocent face.

"Hmm? What's that? Do you want to hear more? Sure!" Chad was about to say something when Eli stood up, annoyed to hear another conversation that he's been copying once more.

"Enough! Can't you see this is serious?! We're facing off another prestigious school here!" Eli screamed at Chad as he crossed-chest his hands looking at Eli teasingly.

"My, there's no need to be so serious! I mean come on! She's just a Descendant of the Alpha of War ~ there's nothing harm on her —" Eli quickly punches Chad to come him back to his senses.

"I will beat you more if you won't stop doing what you're doing." She said with her low scary voice glaring intensely at him. Chad shrink and quickly nodded his head.

Elyse looked at Raymond and asked, "There's still more schools except us? I thought... it's only us?" Everyone froze and looked in Elyse's direction as they all fell silent.

"Well, she's Lucia's Descendant indeed," Dain commented.

"Stop it, bro you're not helping." Kai scolds him.

Elyse blushed, embarrassed. "I-I mean! I just thought about it!" She justifies and Arrow chuckled. She went to Elyse and put one of her arms into Elyse's arm and smirked.

"Well, that's what we love about Elyse! Haha!" Arbor saw what happened and quickly pulls Elyse away from his sister's flirtatious jokes. Arrow smirked in amusement.

"Eh? You're really staring at me like that Arbor? For the record, I was born 1 second before you were born. So basically, I am your older sister." She spoke.

"I neither have an older sister nor a younger sister. That doesn't matter what rank you are in, but don't just touch her like that. You have Eli here." He said and it made Arrow blush.

"Ha?! What did you say?!"

Elyse on the other hand feel exhausted to see both of them fighting again. She sighs and escapes from Arbor's grasp as both twins still fighting, they didn't even notice that Elyse is not beside there anymore.

"Anyway, what is this school visit they're talking about?" Elyse asks Ray once again.

"Luna," Ray called her name which made Elyse flinch to hear his scary intimidating voice. She didn't notice his scary aura glaring at the white wall in front of him at all.

"S-sorry for disturbing..." She whispered.

"Haha, don't worry Elyse. It's just that Ray is so sensitive when it comes to this topic. He actually lost in the battle when the Student Council President of that school challenge him." Luna answered with a smile on her face.

"I see. Then, Luna can you tell me what that school is?" She nodded her head and Luna starts explaining.

Although the Empire flourished after the rule of the Old Master. Before this Academy has built, there was an old Academy that was built by the 1st and last Emperor — Hiro. The Academy that Emperor Hiro built is said to be the most prestigious school in the entire Empire because it has everything a student would always dream of.

Magic, alchemy, chemistry, swordsmanship, archery, literature, and assassinations are one of the top courses in the said Academy in the past. But after the death of Emperor Hiro, the old Master took over his place and she build another Academy. And the current Academy that Elyse is staying at is now the number one most prestigious school and the one that Emperor Hiro built became number two.

And because of the ranks, both schools became competitive with each other.

Because the Academy that Elyse is currently in was known to be a place for the Alphas became popular. Not just that, because of its strict education too. The two Academies are already in the heat since this Academy was built but it made everything more complicated when a supposed-to-be Alpha entered the rival Academy.

And that is Lousiette Hildegarde, she's the great-granddaughter of Duke Zues and her ancestor is the Alpha of War — Lewis.

In the history books, Lewis is nothing but a side character who didn't even make that many appearances. He would always look sideways and tries to pick a fight with Aniya. And as always, Aniya would always win between their sword fighting. Lewis couldn't accept to acknowledge Aniya as an Alpha of Wisdom and War just like him.

Because she was an illegitimate child.

Because of such history, Lewis was never mentioned as a member of the Alphas but "almost". And because of Louisette's decision, it made other Alphas feel enraged to see her choose the path of what her Ancestor did too.

Running away and not even trying to do something.

"Woah, that's a lot of history," Elyse told Luna after what she just heard.

"It sounds a little bit confusing, right? An Alpha entered the rival school and things became more complicated after that. Sigh, if only she just didn't follow Lewis her Ancestor." Luna said.

"But if her Ancestor is an Alpha, why did everyone regard him as almost and not officially a member?" Luna shrugged.

"Who knows? I don't have that many details. Even everyone in this room doesn't know why Louisette hates us just like her Ancestor. Lewis hate the Alphas which was pretty suspicious." Luna told her while staring at the wall.

"I see..."

"Ah, I just received a message," Kai said and Dain looked at his magical message from water that took a form of a bird.

"Hmm. I see. They're coming to the school a week later." Everyone stood up looking shocked and annoyed at Kai.

"What?!" They said in unison. Kai shrink and trembled, feeling nervous to think of an answer.

"U-Uhm... yeah. That's what the water birds told me."

"Wow, until now you're still lazy to know your creature's name." Eli said with displeasing in her eyes.

"Ugh, I just hate remembering their names! Since they're alive in the water and took form in everything, then I will call them with water in it!" He spoke.

"Everyone we must be —"

"Must be what?" Everyone screams and trembled in fear when they suddenly heard a voice coming from Chad's messenger bird.

"L-Louie?" Luna called her.

"What? You think I'm dead?" She said and Elyse noticed a hint of annoyance in her voice.

"W-well it's just surprising..."

"Hmm, I see. There's a new face in the council." Louie ignored Luna and looked at Elyse's face. Even if Elyse couldn't see her face because she was talking through a messenger bird, Louisette can see her.

On the other hand, Louie smirked.

"So, you're the renowned most mysterious creature — Lucia's Descendant." She spoke. Elyse flinched when she notices a hint of insult in her voice.

"But I don't see Lucia in you. But her. That annoying bitch." She said and Elyse froze. She couldn't say anything to defend her Ancestor.

"Louie. Watch your mouth." Arbor stood up.

"Oho? The quiet boy is now actually standing up with someone else? My that's a piece of news."

"Anyways, I just came by. Got to go now. Before I could hurt our little innocent Elyse here." She said and the messenger bird faded.

"You..." Arbor approached Chad and they both start to fight again. While Elyse was there standing in front of them.

"Elyse, are you okay?" Eli went to her side but she didn't answer and only stares at the blank wall.

Right. Her Ancestor was a traitor. How could she hope for the happiness she just felt would always stay the same?
