The day lasted forever.
The night fall weather in New York City was extremely beautiful that late hour. The light waves of breeze prickled Becky's skin as she walked down the garage attached to the building.
The elevator in the building had stopped working early in the morning when she arrived and is still been checked, hence the reason why she had to use the stairs leading to the garage.
Her secretary had retired for the day, he hurriedly left early after informing her about the situation. Guess he was still scared of her.
Leaving his thought at the back of her head, she entered the new Mercedes Benz E350 that she had recently purchased. The one of her choice was not available when she was buying it and her personal assistant recommended that model to her.
"You'd enjoy it once you get used to it." The personal assistant had said grinning.
She scoffed, even though she always use the car to work, she doesn't seem to like yet. "Ma'am, your father requested to see you home." Her driver informed when she had relaxed on the leather seat.
She only nodded at him. Even though she lives in the same district with her father, she doesn't take the liking to visit him. It has actually been two months since her eyes on him, actually whenever they meet, he would make sure to rant her head off before she leaves. Or maybe she was the one that thought so?
"Ma'am, you haven't said anything. To your place or his place?" He silently asked. The old man knows about the hatred she has towards her father but he has been able to point out the reason why? Why will a father and daughter have such a foul relationship but in the eyes of the world, they look perfect?
"His place." She whispered but she knew he heard her. He has gotten used to her silent whispers when it comes to her father.
Through the busy road of New York City, he drove across the town. With a normal traffic, the drive to the house would have been at least twenty minutes but with a busy road, it will take at least half an hour or more. Rebecca was used it.Through her life, she was used to being forgotten and also used to the traffic.
She strolled through her feed page, looking at the mouth watery food her favorite restaurant had posted. If not for her father, she would have been there savoring the food with no worries on her mind. At least, for the moment.
The car screeched to a halt making her jump forward. "I am sorry ma'am, I think something is wrong the brake." He turned to face her, checking if she is alright.
If anything is to happen to her, the boss will definitely have his head. During his stay in the house, he has seen how the boss care for her, that's why he always wonder why she never likes him.
"I am fine. Just get rid of it somehow, I don't want to see it tomorrow." She told him and he nodded his head in agreement.
He knew what she meant by it, sell the car and give the money to the charity house. It is not the first time he has done that for her, sometimes she would ask him to take half of the money for his need but he couldn't do that. He doesn't have the heart to do it.
"We are here." He murmured. She opened her eyes to register the place, the outside painting of the mansion was changed from grey to nude. A huge mahogany door replaced the old one.
"At least they finally have good taste in beautifying the house." She mumbled to herself.
She harshly knocked on the door, not caring about whether they are asleep. They called her here at the late hour, so they will attend to her.
The door was hurriedly opened by a new maid. "Can I pass?" Becky questioned when she saw the girl has no intention of making way for her.
"Sorry but I can't let you in. I don't know who you are, you have to call the person you are here to see." The maid said making her scoff.
No way she was getting told off by a mere maid in her so called father house. "Becky, what are you doing standing there?" An old figure asked coming into view.
"Well, if not for your maid I would not bring outside while the mosquitoes pick on my skin." She watched as the girl's face changed in horror.
She hold her hand in the air stopping the girl from talking. She is not in the mood for any apologies at that moment, all she wants to do is hear what her father has to say and then head back home to wallow in her sorrow.
"Becky, you are late. We finished dinner without you." A feminine said coming out of dark hall.
The lady who happens to be in late twenties, a year older than Becky herself was her step mother but never took her as one, she always sees her as a gold digger.
"I think you are forgetting something, I am Rebecca to you not Becky. You have no right to call me that." Becky gritted raking her eyes on the woman's body.
She never understand what her father saw in Miranda, that got him so into her. She would have say Miranda used dark enhancements on him but she doesn't believe in things like that. Miranda is a lean lady with a figure that she can't categorize in the figure 8 but due to too much plastic surgery, her bosom usually falls out of most her clothes.
She watched in awe as Miranda walked seductively to where her father stand like a fool. "Oh, I guess she still has it in her body." Becky uttered in a low voice, they heard her but paid no heed to her.
"I mean how do you even find her attractive when she is not anything close to that?" She directed her question to her father and she could see anger laced on his face.
His problem, not hers.
"Rebecca, you have no right to call my wife a slut" A smile made it way to her face, he got the message by himself.
"Oh I didn't call her that but you did. You named her that yourself. Now if you will save us all of the stress and tell me what you called me here for, it would have been better." She made her way to the lounge couch, trying not to remember the happy moments she had spent in the house before everything changed, before he changed.
Samuel cleared his throat, right he had called her for something. "I heard you refused to sign the contract with the Pages company, care to tell me why?" He asked bluntly.
Becky smirked, that was why he called her. Because she went against his order to favor his friend's company, well she has her reason for that.
"They are not fit for the job, besides I have given the contract to another company that are worth it. That Pages or whatever it is called seems shady, oh right, you are involved in shady things." She laughed wickedly.
Samuel lunged at her, she might have forgotten he deserves a damn respect from her. The slap he gave her resounds the room, her hand went to palm the side. "Ouch, it stinks. I see you still have the energy in you." She hissed, when her palm came in contact with the cheek again.
"Why don't I tell you something that might help you? Use that energy to fight your demons and get rid of things that won't help you even in the nearest future." Having said that, she picked her bag without looking back even when she heard her father calling her back.
"What an insolent father he is." She thought fighting her tears back.
She kept on keeping them at bay because she had promised to never shed a tear because him. She walked to where her driver and the house chauffeur sat. "Mr Williams, let me have the keys please. Head home." She said, almost snatching the keys from him.
Despite his protest to let him do what she pays him for, she revved the car to life and drove out of the mansion.
"I need to clear my head, I need something strong." She said to herself heading to a bar instead of the normal local pub she has been to every night.
The security was not that tight as she thought, she always go there undercover, she doesn't want anyone to find out her identity and use it to get to her, in the good or bad way.
"Can't you watch where you are going?" She snarled when she felt her come in contact with a lean body.
What's with her and people that have lean body today?
