Chase woke up with a headache. He couldn’t move and he couldn’t figure out why. He searched his mind for the last thing he could remember. They were going to have steak for dinner. It sounded good, too.
Then something happened. The car accident. Where was Helina? He couldn’t hear her near. He wasn't in a hospital bed. He attempted to open one eye. He had trouble and stopped to catch his breath.
He was up against something rough. A tree? He listened harder. There were birds chirping. Birds? He was in the woods.
He finally pried one eye open to see a wolf pacing in front of him. He guessed it was a wolf shifter since he was tied up and the wolf was not. His first thought was that he hadn’t told Helina his real feelings. He was in love with her. Why had he been so stupid? No, it was his ego. If she didn’t feel the same, he didn’t want the sting of rejection. This was new territory for him, feeling something like this.
