Chapter 17: Happy Family
LEILANI’S POV
I wanted to be excited about tonight, but my father’s persistent calls and messages made it hard to focus on anything other than what he wanted me to pay attention to. Here I was in this pathetic frilly pink dress for yet another photo opportunity to prove that the Williams’ is one big happy family.
My mother stood beside me; a fake smile plastered on her face as well. Sometimes I wondered why she didn’t just settle for an average Joe to save all of us the stress.
“Don’t look at me like that,” my mother whispered in my ear.
I was fighting the smile that was threatening to appear which no doubt would earn me a scowl from my father and Alexa. They were both alike when it came to perfection. If it wasn’t perfect then it simply wasn’t worth their time.
“This is your fault. I should be in my bed right now,” I complained.
“You! I divorced the man and I’m still trapped in this senseless parade.”
