Chapter 18: Long Past Dawn
Lia had woken up and decided to take a walk outside. The gardens around the Nash house were beautiful. She found herself in Debbie’s rose garden.
Lia sat down on a bench she found amongst the beautiful array of roses. She inhaled the wonderful fragrance that hung in the air and found that the perfume calmed her.
“Good morning!” She turned to find Brian, her brother-in-law standing behind her.
“Good morning!” She replied as she watched him walking over and coming to take a seat next to her.
“How are you?” Brian asked.
“This place is beautiful. It calms me. Mrs. Nash tends to these roses herself, you know?” Lia smiled.
“If my memory serves me correctly, you used to have your beautiful rose garden growing up. I would come to see your sister, and every time, I would find you in that garden. Rain or sunshine,” Brian commented.
Lia nodded as she remembered life before she was thrown out of her home.
